I love this stuff, feel like it should have its own thread
so far, based on the other stuff ive heard, im mainly a dj yk mule stan. He used to go by DJ YK Beats. His project The Face Vol 1 came out in 2019, and it illustrates what I think is so great about this stuff: skeletal dance grooves, uptempo, really rhythmically experimental, fun snatches of samples and stuff but really groove-first music

I also really like "Warisi Cruise Beat"

And "What Happened to Virgil" (based around a meme of someone singing along with the Lil Durk song)

but he has a ton of songs, very prolific producer.
Other artists have bubbled up as well, I really like this DJ Stainless record that Moves, a London label, put out:

the way a UK label is putting it out though feels kind of random, I would prefer more mixes like YK's 30 min street beats: https://open.spotify.com/album/6guBs3ozz6DX8AumkQAEpH

Moreover, YK emphasizes the speed of the music’s evolution. “I take something from TikTok, I make it into a vocal on a beat, I put that onto TikTok, and as soon as I do it, everyone says, ‘OK let’s take that and make a video on the street, let’s make a dance.’ They respond to the comedy in it—this is for creative people.”
I love 'this is for creative people' as an mo
