Oh shit, I forgot about that Angel Electronics track from last year on my tracks ballot. The name of the artist rang a bell but I didn't go back to check, that was a really sweet fun pop punk song and seeing as I was struggling to pick the last few tracks to fill my ballot out that would have been a much better pick. Bah.

couple albums that have stood out this morning - maybe the latter doesn't belong here but popping it down regardless
https://upsettherhythm.bandcamp.com/album/the-mule-peasants-revolt-of-12067"Historically Fucked is a four way entanglement made to create short, eruptive songs and then set about obliterating them from the inside, like improvising a barrel to encase themselves in and then proceeding to lick their way out of it. It is about playing and laughing at playing, and it is about not doing either of those things sometimes. Sometimes it is to do with talking, howling or grunting, and sometimes it is to do with hitting and rubbing."
https://abstrakce.bandcamp.com/album/el-pasaje-del-aumento"Sentuhlà is one of the many aliases of musical jack of all trades José Guerrero, a long-standing figure in the already rich underground scene of Valencia. In this solo excursion, he explores the vast possibilities of mechanical repetition, the machine funk of dirtbag rhythms, and proper boogie DIY synth music, sculpting a syncopated sound that is both modern and atavistic. Coming from a deep knowledge and ability to communicate very diverse sounds, slow jams unfold into dance music for clear-eyed lounge lizards for whom sleaze comes not dizzy but focused. Whitened African rhythms beat up no-wave disco pleasure points, managing the hard task of being very cool and nonchalant, but also hot and dedicated. "

I really like the new album from Danish solo artist Aperly High. It takes a Danish hypnagogic electronic sound, probably internationally most well known from ML Buch and Clarissa Connelly, and tries to take it in a more stadium direction, where it's still distorted voices and weird time signatures, but now with big sing-a-long choruses and outros.

Is it just me or are those new Fire-Toolz tracks even better than normal? I like her, but I'm also always overwhelmed, and this seems slightly more... logical in a way? Might this be her critical breakthrough?

The mixtape from Bandmanrill, Sha Ek and McVertt reminded me of old bop-mixtapes, so I googled around a bit, and found this great article on how bop-artists like Sicko Mobb inspired the hyperpop of today: https://southsideweekly.com/finding-chicago-bop-in-todays-hyperpop/. I miss bop, and it definitely sounded like PC Music.
McVertts productions are only a couple of noises away from hypergarbage as well, imo. I love this type of hiphop.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv6H_NVw99U
