I don’t see why that has to be acknowledged separately from the yuks; in fact, said yuks contribute to the quality of the album

I don't see why either except I've read, like, three comments here about the album content apart from the title track.

i do think it hits a good middle ground between sounding classic in a way but not self-consciously retro w/the production and songs

A track from this album came up on a playlist a while ago, I thought it was the dumbest fuckin' name for an album I'd heard in a very long time. Hard to argue with his chops, though.

oh yeah, surely we'd all be talking about a new Smokey Robinson in 2024 that was not called GASMS.

I kept thinking Smokey's street team was tagging the sidewalks in my city before I ultimately realized that I was seeing spraypainted signs for GASM(AIN)S. Maybe that's what he had in mind the whole time.
