Hold on, just going to do a mashup of Gantz Graf and Scatman and see what happens.

who's the vocalist on ccec (on EP7)? Maybe they should bring him back?

silverfish, Monday, 6 February 2023 14:01 (three years ago)

serious answer: all of the above, in the same track, a one-off 80s style super-collaboration with all proceeds going to charity

silverfish, Monday, 6 February 2023 14:05 (three years ago)

xp the ae remix of tried by twelve breaks down the vocal in a very similar way to ccec (about 3:30 in - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APIpqkjxzBo ) so... ron smith?? https://www.discogs.com/artist/162434-DeS

Voted Bjork, but Kate Bush would be interesting to say the least. Not enough rappers in the poll though. ODB, Aceyalone, Gift of Gab and even Kendrick would be interesting pairings

octobeard, Monday, 6 February 2023 20:35 (three years ago)

Also Autechre remixed a SOPHIE's Bipp so there's another interesting vocalist for you

jessy lanza would be good if they ever did a somewhat straightforward electro thing

GAM because she sings over pretty abstract music and makes it work, I guess Autechre would need to adapt and take a step in her direction (hip-hop ?)
Or for contrast, I could imagine Stina Nordenstam if Autechre accept to do softer songs
For another nomination, David Sylvian and Autechre can do whatever

Wasn't there an old Autechre mix that had lots of vocal tracks, albeit Warp-y stuff like Jimi Tenor, processed a bit? I want to say it was called Radio Show?

I may have invented this, however?? (Can I have happy memories of something that might be a figment of my imagination?)

djh, Tuesday, 7 February 2023 20:08 (three years ago)

The Radio Mix promo has lots of remixes they did for other artists, including some with vocals, and also a fair bit of sampled film dialogue. I was listening to it on the weekend actually.

assert (matttkkkk), Tuesday, 7 February 2023 20:11 (three years ago)

I've read an Autechre thread

who would be a good vocalist for autechre?

Autechre's music is often instrumental and experimental, so the ideal vocalist would depend on the specific direction they wanted to take with the collaboration. However, here are a few suggestions of vocalists that could complement Autechre's sound:

Elizabeth Fraser (of Cocteau Twins)
Björk
Thom Yorke (of Radiohead)
Karin Dreijer (of The Knife)
Mark Hollis (of Talk Talk)
David Sylvian
Iggy Pop
Antony Hegarty (of Antony and the Johnsons)
These vocalists are known for their unique and sometimes avant-garde vocal styles, which could add an interesting dimension to Autechre's experimental electronic music.

Thanks assert.

djh, Tuesday, 7 February 2023 20:40 (three years ago)

Rob and Sean should do it themselves

The real answer is probably a generated AI voice modeled after some abstract texture spitting verses in some unknown language

Curious to hear the case for Joan Armatrading
(And for Gilberto Gil circa 1968 but I assume that was a joke, sure made me laugh)

Yeah i meant specifically like the style he was doing on his 1969 self titled album, he goes really out there vocal-wise and just kind of reminds me of autechre’s playfulness
