yeah, this is something that deserves any+all hype it gets. it's too new and too good to say anything of substance about, but dang she really is the greatest.

yeah pretty much otm. “gangsta” is a big highlight. only thing is that i prefer the purer afro stuff to the crossover stuff. i do like the boom-bap drums on “wickedest”

yeah i ain't wannabe negging it right out of the gate, but feck j cole and his weary old player raps. get that bullschitt the entire fuck off here and put "not an angel" in its rightful spot!

.....but that's really my only criticism at this point.

I need another listen or two to have a take on this, but there were definitely some magical moments

“you in my face” is a quiet storm masterpiece

you in my face, hold on, gangsta, get it right, wickedest are the standouts for me after a couple listens

“Love Me Jeje” and “you in my face” have some beautiful guitars going on. Loved those on first listen but the whole thing is great.

"Burning" is the best song of 2024 and the third or fourth best song on this album

album didn't stick with me as much as i wanted it to but still absolutely love "burning" and "you in my face"

same, as a thematic & sonic swerve from the EPs i respect it bcuz it's so obviously a personal record for her, prob the one she envisioned making her whole life. too many of the songs just don't quite hit for me sadly, and hopefully she got the rapping stuff out of her system...

in general it feels like this album cycle just didn't fully connect w/ ppl, i love "me & u" and "not an angel" but they never really got off the ground for her as singles. i found it interesting that she performed "not an angel" on tour despite it not making the album, i feel like there prob ended up being a lot of back and forth between her and the label about the make up of the album. they seem to have acquiesced to her creative vision & i imagine her forthcoming music will hew a bit closer to the more pure R&B that blew her up. if i had to guess
