In my quest to listen to and playlist every US-charting 80s pop song I stumbled on Moon Martin's "Love Gone Bad" (peaked at 105 on 1/31/81 on Billboard Bubbling Under) from his Street Fever record and ended up really digging his low key power pop stylings. "Love Gone Bad" sounds uncannily like a Matthew Sweet b-side from the Altered Beast era.
Beyond that I've been digging his debut Shots from a Cold Nightmare, which has a lot to like beyond his biggest song Bad Case of Loving You, which via Robert Palmer apparently kept him comfortable for the rest of his life off of Dr Pepper and Dr Scholl's licensing cash. This dude seems unjustly forgotten, although apparently he was way bigger in France.

I'm always interested in musicians from my home state of Oklahoma, so a few years ago I picked up his 1979 LP, Escape from Domination. Low key power pop is a good description, it reminded me of a less sleazy Bob Welch record. The first track, I've Got a Reason, has a cool dusk-y vibe a good hook.

there's some good stuff on those Southwind albums too.
