Godflesh are releasing a new album, Purge, in June 2023, and they claim it's meant to be a sonic cousin to my favorite of their albums, Pure. Based on the first single, "Nero," I can hear it.

I have now heard the whole album and it rules. There's some Pure-ish stuff, some Slavestate-ish stuff, some Merciless/Selfless-ish stuff, some Streetcleaner-ish stuff and even one song that sounds like it could have come straight off the first EP. It's exactly what I would have hoped for from them. Eight tracks, 44 minutes. Out June 9.

that interview in last month's decibel was great and very illuminating. all about mental illness and JB's struggle over the years. it definitely resonated with me and made me realize why i've always responded so strongly to what he does. i've never wanted to be a musician but i've always thought that certain people were doing things that i would have wanted to do if i had been a musician.
