Qeq-hauau-ent-pehui (Neanderthal), Thursday, 11 May 2023 01:16 (two years ago)

Whoops, I should've voted for Fogerty. I glanced past it and didn't see it until now.

Had she wanted to try her hand at rock (rather than straighter pop) 40 years ago, it would've been fun to see her collaborate with Jason & The Scorchers, the Blasters, John Mellencamp and his band at the time, X, Los Lobos, and above all Lone Justice.

birdistheword, Thursday, 11 May 2023 01:19 (two years ago)

she's recorded "Stairway to Heaven" before and did a good job with it iirc

wondering if "Heartbreaker" is a fake-out and it's actually the Dolly song from '78 not the Pat Benatar song

c u (crüt), Thursday, 11 May 2023 01:22 (two years ago)

You could not pay me to listen to this

Paul Ponzi, Thursday, 11 May 2023 01:25 (two years ago)

I thought earlier that "Purple Rain" and "You're No Good" might be OK, I'll vote for the former.

Halfway there but for you, Thursday, 11 May 2023 01:28 (two years ago)

...might go Heart of Glass...

m0stly clean (Slowsquatch), Thursday, 11 May 2023 04:30 (two years ago)

Magic Man vs Long As I Can See The Light for me

ready for this

The Miley/Dolly "Wrecking Ball" worked great live:

“Heart of Glass” probably

fair but so uncool beliefs here (Eric H.), Thursday, 11 May 2023 13:02 (two years ago)

I really really want to see video of Dolly and Rob Halford hanging out, chatting, just getting to know each other....

My Blue Tears (ft Simon Le Bon)

Lol

m0stly clean (Slowsquatch), Thursday, 11 May 2023 14:24 (two years ago)

I definitely want to hear Dolly’s voice and Stevie’s voice together on a track, so that one.

BlackIronPrison, Thursday, 11 May 2023 14:53 (two years ago)

totally missed the Kid Rock duet until DJP pointed it out. surprised someone as normally astute as Dolly would include him on a track

Qeq-hauau-ent-pehui (Neanderthal), Thursday, 11 May 2023 14:54 (two years ago)

now if the track is her stabbing him with a kitchen knife over a backing track, it may have legs

Qeq-hauau-ent-pehui (Neanderthal), Thursday, 11 May 2023 14:54 (two years ago)

Artimus Pyle is pretty sketchy too

c u (crüt), Thursday, 11 May 2023 15:00 (two years ago)

"Purple Rain" oughta be interesting, but I will definitely listen to 29 of these songs when the album drops.

niall horanburger (cryptosicko), Thursday, 11 May 2023 15:01 (two years ago)

this will probably suck honestly

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 11 May 2023 15:04 (two years ago)

Has she done anything of note, musically, since her early 00's bluegrass trilogy? I listened to that novel tie-in album she put out a year or two ago and it was nothing special.

niall horanburger (cryptosicko), Thursday, 11 May 2023 15:07 (two years ago)

Her 2008 album with the "She Drives Me Crazy" cover was fine.

the dreaded dependent claus (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 11 May 2023 15:09 (two years ago)

i couldn't say. i own little sparrow from that era which is wonderful.

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 11 May 2023 15:11 (two years ago)

I haven't listened to anywhere close to all of her records, but I wouldn't be surprised if Little Sparrow was her finest work, period. I had "Mountain Angel" on that 50 favourite songs list that I submitted to the Rock Critics blog a little while back.

niall horanburger (cryptosicko), Thursday, 11 May 2023 15:13 (two years ago)

Those early '70s albums range from okay to great, and even the okay ones have great songs.

the dreaded dependent claus (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 11 May 2023 15:16 (two years ago)

Night Moves definitely

INDEPENDENTS DAY BY STEVEN SPILBERG (President Keyes), Thursday, 11 May 2023 15:22 (two years ago)

I got to wonder how many original Jordanaires in the group at this point?

The Artist formerly known as Earlnash, Thursday, 11 May 2023 15:40 (two years ago)

Dolly Parton ft an Elvis impersonator with Elvis's dead backup singers

it looks like the Jordanaires performed live as recently as 2010 with two classic (50s/60s/70s) but non-original members. Ray Walker (joined in 1958) is still alive. the song on this album was recorded several years ago

astor pizzarolla (unregistered), Thursday, 11 May 2023 16:00 (two years ago)

Wrecking Ball (ft Miley Cyrus)
We Are the Champions
Stairway to Heaven (ft Lizzo and Sasha Flute)

ig these are targeted at people who think Dolly's face should be added to the Bob Ross/Mr. Rogers/Steve Irvin Rushmore?

astor pizzarolla (unregistered), Thursday, 11 May 2023 16:04 (two years ago)

xpost that makes sense as the jordanaires is one that would have something she would have done pre-hall of fame and epic baconing

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 11 May 2023 16:05 (two years ago)

It's not Rob, but it's kinda even more unexpected:

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 11 May 2023 16:08 (two years ago)

Who's producing? This will surely be lame, but it would be cool if it was like Blake Mills/Shawn Everett or even T Bone Burnett, and there was a consistent band and tasteful production.

Random Restaurateur (Jordan), Thursday, 11 May 2023 16:12 (two years ago)

T-Bone could really capture that classic Nikki Sixx bass tone

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 11 May 2023 16:15 (two years ago)

this will probably suck honestly

No probably about it. This is clearly going to be very terrible and why this is not a "Predict the most unlistenable track on this album based on the tracklisting" poll is beyond me

Paul Ponzi, Thursday, 11 May 2023 17:00 (two years ago)

I mean, based on the Miley/Dolly video above, we'll at least get some great live performances promoting it.

underwater as a compliment (Eazy), Thursday, 11 May 2023 17:03 (two years ago)

night moves

ludicrously capacious bag (voodoo chili), Thursday, 11 May 2023 17:13 (two years ago)

xps those bluegrass albums in the ‘00s are good but the sweet spot for me is still 1967-1975. That 2009 four-CD box set Dolly is a great career overview, but I also culled a single disc from it covering those eight years for convenience’s sake:

1 Just Because I'm A Woman 03:05
2 The Last Thing On My Mind 02:36
3 Holdin' On To Nothin' 02:29
4 We'll Get Ahead Someday 01:57
5 In The Good Old Days (When Times Were Bad) 02:47
6 Gypsy, Joe And Me 03:11
7 My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy 03:28
8 Just The Way I Am 02:29
9 Down From Dover 03:47
10 Daddy Come And Get Me 03:02
11 Tomorrow Is Forever 02:49
12 Just Someone I Used To Know 02:24
13 Mule Skinner Blues (Blue Yodel No. 8 ) 03:10
14 Joshua 03:04
15 The Last One To Touch Me 03:03
16 Better Move It On Home 02:15
17 Coat Of Many Colors 03:06
18 Traveling Man 02:41
19 My Blue Tears 02:17
20 Here I Am 03:19
21 Touch Your Woman 02:41
22 My Tennessee Mountain Home 03:09
23 Jolene 02:42
24 Please Don't Stop Loving Me 02:48
25 I Will Always Love You 02:56
26 Love Is Like A Butterfly 02:22
27 The Bargain Store 02:43
28 The Seeker 03:17

birdistheword, Thursday, 11 May 2023 17:20 (two years ago)

This is clearly going to be very terrible and why this is not a "Predict the most unlistenable track on this album based on the tracklisting" poll is beyond me

Because the Kid Rock feature would win in a landslide. Skewing the poll negative would be too boring.

Biggest shock for me is the lack of Grohl.

Vernon Locke, Friday, 12 May 2023 00:11 (two years ago)

I’d like to start a bluegrass Foo Fighters tribute band called And Grohl Opry

INDEPENDENTS DAY BY STEVEN SPILBERG (President Keyes), Friday, 12 May 2023 01:16 (two years ago)

Bluegrass “Hero”

Foograss

Qeq-hauau-ent-pehui (Neanderthal), Friday, 12 May 2023 02:15 (two years ago)

You’re No Good if it's the Terry Riley piece. Otherwise Heart of Glass, wtf will that sound like?

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Friday, 17 November 2023 00:01 (one year ago)

Ok I threw this on for the lolz, but many tracks are...surprisingly tasteful? Not all, thankfully. But the lady can still sing the hell out of a song.
