I was about to start this thread! New single is incredible, and "Freedom Of The Floor" is the best fake Sade I've ever heard

She's so great. Glad to see the thread! Album due August 11. Seems kind of mad that it'll be her debut (solo) album.

I really like this. As I was listening, I kept thinking that her voice sounded a little like someone else's, but I couldn't figure it out until it just hit me: Elizabeth Fraser. With incomprehensible lyrics, "Any Day Now" could be a Cocteaus song. I mean that as a compliment.

Yes I definitely get Cocteaus from the album, particularly in the gauzier moments.

yeah I'm seeing her on Saturday in a 120-person venue and I'm really looking forward to it

Vocally she often reminds me of Susanne Sundfor, but part of me wants to avoid that comparison as potentially being too confining/reductive vis a vis both of them.

this is quite wonderful. my immediate reference point is jane siberry which is always a good sign

I see a connection with Sundfor in embracing a not-always-fashionable singer-songwriter classicism - I get Laura Nyro vibes in places

It's lovely as usual

Strong year for EPs. This is my favorite thing she’s done. Makes me consider revisiting her older material because I’m really vibing with this one.

I think my favourite thing Groves has done is "I'm Not Crying" from the last album, which absolutely destroys me, but yeah her music is really suited to these bite sized formats
