I was about to start this thread! New single is incredible, and "Freedom Of The Floor" is the best fake Sade I've ever heard

She's so great. Glad to see the thread! Album due August 11. Seems kind of mad that it'll be her debut (solo) album.

yeah that's wild - lots of lovely stuff over the years (Dream Story, Foolish Game, Infinite Wisdom, M6 North..)

wonderful album

I adore this album, real Never For Ever vibes.

I'm up to "Time" and loving it so far. Feel like I can drown in some of these tracks

Yeah, I love the vibe of this.

Gorgeous album. Looking forward to spending more time with it.

I really enjoyed the Committed Language EP so I'm excited to hear this

I really like this. As I was listening, I kept thinking that her voice sounded a little like someone else's, but I couldn't figure it out until it just hit me: Elizabeth Fraser. With incomprehensible lyrics, "Any Day Now" could be a Cocteaus song. I mean that as a compliment.

this is the stuff
― ivy., Thursday, 17 August 2023 14:21 (two years ago)
Yes I definitely get Cocteaus from the album, particularly in the gauzier moments.

Going to see her next Wednesday at pretty intimate gig not far from where I live…should be great

loving this too, tim OTM w/ the ‘never for ever’ comparison
― donna rouge, Thursday, 17 August 2023 15:05 (two years ago)
yeah I'm seeing her on Saturday in a 120-person venue and I'm really looking forward to it
― boxedjoy, Thursday, 17 August 2023 16:03 (two years ago)
Vocally she often reminds me of Susanne Sundfor, but part of me wants to avoid that comparison as potentially being too confining/reductive vis a vis both of them.
― Tim F, Thursday, 17 August 2023 23:03 (two years ago)
this is quite wonderful. my immediate reference point is jane siberry which is always a good sign
― ufo, Saturday, 19 August 2023 12:00 (two years ago)
I see a connection with Sundfor in embracing a not-always-fashionable singer-songwriter classicism - I get Laura Nyro vibes in places

― LaMDA barry-stanners (||||||||), Saturday, 19 August 2023 20:46 (two years ago)
she didn't even really need a microphone tonight, that voice filled the room effortlessly

Strong year for EPs. This is my favorite thing she’s done. Makes me consider revisiting her older material because I’m really vibing with this one.
― ✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 7 August 2025 03:26 (one month ago)
I think my favourite thing Groves has done is "I'm Not Crying" from the last album, which absolutely destroys me, but yeah her music is really suited to these bite sized formats
