i was thrilled to find out preppies even existed anymore - they used to listen to OMD and wear polo shirts and that kind of thing. what do they wear now? they're not listening to avril lavigne while they're wearing whatever it is, i take it. or if they are she seems to wish they would change.

preppie - comes from prep school, which is where posh folk in the us send their kiddies to train them for the ivy league. sort of like the US equiv of public schools.

in the 80s, there was a massive fashion trend for dressing like said preppies, in ll bean (hence why suzy laffs at my ll bean platinum card, true sign of the trusta) and lacoste shirts with the stupid aligators that i was always afraid would bite my nipples off. it's all detailed in preppie style guide, _the preppie handbook_ (my grammar school and my high school were both namechecked in this... sigh,). for true preps, see the posh kids in _pretty in pink_.

Perhaps this hasn't made it across the pond, but since Rushmore, most people in tune with "underground" pop have dressed like slightly messy preppies. Lately, they're getting cleaner, as straight prep is much more ironic than that old ragget-y stuff. Chcek ebay for old Izods - most are advertised with EMO in the title. Also i cant listen to the band i used to listen to cuz preps took over...when i listen to creed i think im turning into a prep and i dont it so i now sold all my shit preps listen to! hey i'm just about as preppy as they come but i actually listen to punk music, ska music , alt rork , hard rock, local bands, and a little rap....

people dont really believe im into that kinda music but i have lots of preppy friends and i would say our fav bands are
