Male Vocalist Recs: Hit Me With 'Em

Just thinking about how much I love Jeff Buckley and noticed how many of my favorite male vocalists are tenors (Moses Sumney, Thom Yorke, Matt Bellamy). I'm partial to angsty baritones like Jimmy Gnecco as well. Who are some of your favorite male vocalists and why?

Daniel Gildenlöw of Pain of Salvation (baritone voice but has incredible falsetto, very emotive)
Rob Halford (i mean come on)
Bruce Dickinson (also - speaks for himself)
Robert Lowe of Solitude Aeternus (solid pure tenor voice that he can grit up if necessary, but has a buttery smoothness even on his stratospheric notes)
Milo Auckerman of Descendents (perfected the dirty melodic pop-punk vocal and nobody has emulated it well)
Glenn Danzig (he's a dick but his Elvis-like throaty wail is unmatched)
Johan Längqvist of Candlemass (dynamic doom metal singer whose presence just consumes you)
Kenny Loggins (seriously - dude's voice is a weapon!)
Al Green (that falsetto baby)
Brian Stokes Mitchell (one of Broadway's best modern baritones)

The obvious, Freddie Mercury, one of a kind. Such a range the man had, both musically and emotionally. He was funny and heartbreaking.

Macca, no other male singer can move me like he can at his best.

Ian Curtis, for the aptness of his vocal style to his lyrics and the band's sound.

Tom Waits, an acquired taste for sure, but also an incredible emotional range. I've been listening to him for so long, he's like a favorite uncle.

David Byrne, he sounds like a guy who's surprised to find himself singing.

Robert Plant, who defines the term "muscular" as applied to singing.

Hope you haven't listened to Jeff Buckley for too long without listening to Tim as well.

I’m so repulsed by male vocalists in contemporary bands that I make a point to generally not listen to new acts that feature them

Arthur Lee and Ray Davies, for all the complex shading they both bring to a song.
