There are pretty good records in the top 50 but it's all pretty basic and 51-100 seemed like a more interesting list

this could also be the rolling "Midnight Special" thread as that series started proper in 1973 and they have been uploading every episode in full to youtube lately

lot of weird shit in between the expected, they're only up to episode 17, still 1973, several of them have featured dueling banjos I guess that was a pretty big deal at the time

Mandrill or Byrd or sly or curtis

Toshirō Nofune (The Seventh ILXorai), Tuesday, 22 August 2023 12:17 (one year ago)

Pretty easily Close To The Edge for me

Muad'Doob (Moodles), Tuesday, 22 August 2023 12:23 (one year ago)

probably close to the edge but there’s a lot of good stuff on here

vol. 4, fresh, for the roses, ziggy, spinners, back stabbers, i could go on

is he disgruntled adrian? (voodoo chili), Tuesday, 22 August 2023 12:51 (one year ago)

the space that deliverance occupies in american pop culture is so unfathomably weird to me (not that the film is necessarily bad but yknow)

I've only heard a few of these but fresh is definitely at the top and I feel like it's been getting its due again lately after getting damned with faint praise for a while

BS vol 4 strikes me as messy even by the band's previous standards and I'm not sure why it's so beloved - but they have the privilege/burden of peaking with their first riff and everything else seems a little anticlimactic to my ears

"Back to the World" is fabulous btw.

The Midnight Special uploads have been amazing. Considering how this kind of footage tends to get hoarded, I was genuinely surprised that a company would just let people enjoy full episodes in good quality without some sort of paywall (though I'm sure there's some sort of copyright extension angle).

Love Joni, Sly, Sabbath and Yes, and a number of great songs on several others, but when else would I get a chance to vote for the sorely underrated Shoot Out at the Fantasy Factory?
Could have used the same logic to vote for A Passion Play, but I admire it rather than enjoy it.

Halfway there but for you, Tuesday, 22 August 2023 19:29 (one year ago)

Okay, this one I can dive into (even though I'm much more of a song guy).

For studio album, Spinners--"I'll Be Around," "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love," and "One of a Kind (Love Affair)," all in one place.

For compilation, Hot Rocks. Not perfect by any means, pretty great by default. (First Rolling Stones album I ever bought, not too long after this chart.)

Voted Liza

Saddest thing is the beginning of the end for the previously brilliant Carpenters.

i looked up that Gladys Knight album and lol don't recognize anything other than the title track

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

For compilation, Hot Rocks.

This list, though, has More Hot Rocks, the deep tracks and rarities sequel.

all I knew about the nitty gritty dirt band when I made this poll was "fishin' in the dark" but "will the circle be unbroken" is really cool, what a good idea for a record in the early 70s
