Yes, I know that there is better stuff and more good stuff from these years that isn't included. Fore example, I chucked out almost all of the hip hop because basically every album seemed like a ringer that would wind up with 90% of the votes, and I had to make room for stuff that absolutely no one would vote for and especially for albums/artists whose existence people are completely unaware of. And I can already guess the like two or three feted albums that will be at the top of the results. And yeah, probably a lot of these are not-great albums that yielded up some pretty great pop gems. Whatever. Look, I don't have to justify my methodology. Particularly since it's largely nonexistent. I like this stuff and hopefully you'll discover some stuff that you like, too.

I saw Exposé, Sweet Sensation, and Stevie B. live at a festival last month

(Stevie B said, at one point – “Stevie B is 65 years old!”)

Absolutely Take It While It’s Hot by Sweet Sensation for me, but you have good taste in freestyle!

I love how the production on the track "When We Kiss" from Bardeux's Bold As Love makes it sound like a lost track from Leonard Cohen's I'm Your Man (hell, the bendy keyboard sounds and drum machine may as well be from the same session!), as if Jaz and Acacia snuck into the studio when Lenny took a break to watch RDM on the set of "Feds".

Front-loaded albums are musical gerrymandering (Prefecture), Tuesday, 22 August 2023 18:07 (two years ago)

I love how the music on the verses of 'When We Kiss' is basically the theme song from The Young and the Restless.

I'm not sure I've ever been more jealous of another human being.

Oh really, I saw Exposé twice within the time frame of these poll options

Josefa, Tuesday, 22 August 2023 18:20 (two years ago)

Voted Neneh Cherry, but Dead Milkmen feels like a very weird inclusion.

lol, yes. Yes, it is. This is basically a mix of 'stuff I listened to in junior high' and 'stuff I would have listened to in junior high if I'd known it existed at the time'. You can probably figure out which category Beelzebubba falls into.

Timmy T, wow I haven’t thought about that album in decades

Because it's a look that should return

Prop Dramedy (Old Lunch), Tuesday, 22 August 2023 18:43 (two years ago)

I didn’t know Shana had an album, or even a song other than “I Want You”

Josefa, Tuesday, 22 August 2023 18:44 (two years ago)

Im not familiar with lots of these but I'll go with Mantronix "this should move ya"

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Tuesday, 22 August 2023 18:46 (two years ago)
