When I was briefly thinking about making a list myself I wondered if Happy Monday's would make the cut and that album too. Hatful of Hollow definitely would.

Stooges are there twice. Wish they should but it’s the same album.

Voted for Jane's because I should have had it on my own list. I was obsessed with that record for like two years when it came out. They still feel to me like the crest of a wave that never really landed the way it should have (despite bringing the world Lollapalooza and the whole "alternative nation" concept).

A younger me would've picked Automatic for the People without hesitation but the Janes Addiction album (and particularly that final 1/3 or whatever) has fallen into heavy rotation in later years

It was a tough choice between AFTP and Murmur for my REM pick

Yeah I think I came to those a few years after they were released. Goldie's "Timeless" was another dance album purchase on cassette after I read a glowing review on Melody Maker about it. I could've easily put that on the list too. I love it more now than I did then actually.

One thing I've never understood is why Kind Of Blue is everyone's fave Miles. What other Miles do you like, mike?

KOB the first jazz album I really got into. He made more out there music that pushed the genre on for sure and "In a silent way" runs a close second but the melancholy sounds of KOB is the pinnacle of what Miles does imho

Round Midnight is my fave of his more traditional jazz.

I own like 30 Miles LPs plus most of those Complete sets and yeah KOB is still easy top 5

"Seven Steps To Heaven" and 'Someday My Prince Will Come" are my fave seemingly-overlooked ones, plus the awesome later-period "We Want Miles"

I have that Complete Columbia box set, some of the album box sets and some of the important early albums on CD.

I could never get into 'cool jazz' so Birth Of The Cool isn't one of my faves.
