I'm sure I've still got my list. I daresay a newly-compiled list would probably be much the same.

There are a few of us that migrated over from CMJ. The board housed those lists so they are there. ILM has altered my taste, so the reason why I won't go looking around.

Underrated Stones album which has become one of my faves of theirs

As you know my favorite Boo Radleys album is Kingsize but that album is not a 10 because of Free Huey, which is not really a good song. It reminds me of Beach House by Carly Rae Jepsen, where the song is ok but out of place on the album itself. Giant Steps is classic but I think I love the loudness of C'mon Kids a bit more these days so I put it here. I also think Learning to Walk is a flat out classic as well one of the best shoegaze comps there is.

I guess there are other cure albums I like more than p'graphy so it feels like I shouldn't vote for it whereas the other 4 are by far my favourites of those artists.

Nowhere means so much to me, just that time and place. I think I saw Ride 10 times on that tour.

Thing about Nowhere is that it still sounds excellent. Every song. It's almost a lost classic to kids these days.

I could have also listed Heaven and Las Vegas but Treasure just means so much to me.

I went about this a little different meaning, not every album is my favorite from said artist but one that I like almost as much.

Since I can vote in my own poll, voting Pornography as it's the darkest one.

The trance like drumming, the wailing guitar, the bass you can feel in your toes and the voice of despair. Nothing else quite like it, not even from The Cure.

Pretty much an impossible choice, I love so many of these albums, I picked New Order but at least ten others are serious candidates.

Parallel Lines over Cars s/t

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.

I can see why it is divisive, it is such a weird, primitive, over-sharing, fauvist album with archaic instrumentation. It relates to other Elephant 6 music but is nothing like the rest of the 90s

But it is also super heart-felt and loud to the point of distortion. It gets my vote

Radiator was my favorite contemporary album at one of the pivotal moments in my life. I needed it, it saved me, and it also messed me up worse than any other album has ever messed me up. Under its spell my main focus in life for a time became channeling my anger into antics and my antics into art. Cluttered Rhodes and 303 driven arrangements = hardtop cityscape of indeterminate nationality, cheap upholstery in the midwinter chill with only WGBH ident-colored nostalgia for warmth. The embarrassing dorm room Che Guevara poster lyrics were always embarrassing, but for giving me permission to say "fuck it" and continue saying it till the bottom fell out, it's by far my favorite album here still.

I voted Stone Roses here because it was one I sort of kicked myself leaving off my own list. Besides loving it on its merits, that album is tied to a lot of specific things for me. Essential soundtrack to a chunk of my life.

Number of albums heard: 40, all but one of which (see below) has at least 1 song I love

Favourite: Teenage Fanclub, 9/10, over Cocteau Twins, also 9/10

Least-favourite: Neutral Milk Hotel, 3/10 ("super heart-felt and loud to the point of distortion")

Nicest surprise: Donna Summer or Elastica, both 8/10

Unheard, but most want to hear: Ride

I'd have voted for this over Bandwagonesque.

I moved back to Orange County from San Francisco and used to listen to Neutral Milk Hotel along with Lifted to reach that feeling. I was going from city life back to suburban life. I didn't want to adjust I just wanted to wallow in the Monk. NMH can achieve something few can but also understand people hating it.

It'll End In Tears as this might be the only vote it gets.

I see I made a mistake, Xtrmntr was released January 2000, so it should not be here. I forgot the Pale Saints, so that should take its place. My fault I didn't catch it earlier.

Great selections, but I think our tastes overlap a lot on this board so maybe not surprising. You've even got my GOAT album on there so I'll go with that
