first instinct is bytes but there’s a strong case for maxinquaye and endtroducing

chiastic slide, icbyd and rdj also at top of heap but autechre and aphex have lots of other equally good stuff (black dog et al not so much)

Anyhoo voting Amon Tobin as I was mad obsessed about that one for a full year (and Bonobo’s dial m for monkey) when it came out. I think the first time I heard “slowly” I played it 10 times in a row.

yeah i know its a cliche, but for me it was a toss up between KLF and tBD.
and as much as i love the KLF it has to be tBD for me.

It’s been years since I last heard Amon Tobin tbh but that sucks. That song is essential to this album.

In a similar fashion “easy muffin” is my favorite song off his debut and it’s also missing from streaming (and I suppose any reissues)

fifth mission is one of my favorite albums of all time, it's basically "what if sabres' 'haunted dancehall' but make it library music for 70s crime drama"

yes exactly! but it also feels completely sui generis - unlike, say, 'theme' off haunted dancehall.

oh i know what you mean, for every “wtf is this weird genius noise” moment like “chapel st market 9 am” there’s something depressingly prosaic like “tow truck”

Lol I didn't read other people's threads before I posted, so my top 50 wouldn't be influenced.

So I assumed all the highly specific thread titles were people poking fun at how their lists were weighted toward something specific. So I did that.

It actually would have been more fun to go all-in on this concept, so we both have regrets.
