c u (crüt), Wednesday, 23 August 2023 23:39 (one year ago)

haha i unhid them a while back. i missed years of them though.

scott seward, Wednesday, 23 August 2023 23:42 (one year ago)

There sure are a lot of records in this world.

Random Restaurateur (Jordan), Wednesday, 23 August 2023 23:48 (one year ago)

I don’t think I’ve heard of any of these!

The Triumphant Return of Bernard & Stubbs (Raymond Cummings), Wednesday, 23 August 2023 23:54 (one year ago)

gotta be sylvia striplin or gordon mumma, of the very few i've heard here

ian, Wednesday, 23 August 2023 23:56 (one year ago)

haha i just voted for that because it seems like the type of record you might have conjured into existence. besides his bandcamp page says he's a past member of The Invaders, Dave, Niazuma’s Revenge, The Kevorkian Effect, and Bojang Whyhigh?

Thus Sang Freud, Thursday, 24 August 2023 00:11 (one year ago)

With a lineage like that, how can you go wrong??

ian, Thursday, 24 August 2023 00:14 (one year ago)

I feel like half of this are made up artists and album titles

✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 24 August 2023 00:15 (one year ago)

you know there's lots of records in the world that all of us have never heard of right

ian, Thursday, 24 August 2023 00:17 (one year ago)

I will never not vote for Machine Age Voodoo <3

out-of-print LaserDisc edition (sleeve), Thursday, 24 August 2023 00:18 (one year ago)

that Szabo is real nice too, just heard it recently

out-of-print LaserDisc edition (sleeve), Thursday, 24 August 2023 00:19 (one year ago)

i feel like a square cuz i don't get into Szabo, but i'm just not a jazz guitar guy

ian, Thursday, 24 August 2023 00:19 (one year ago)

idk try Mizrab? lotta backing band action on that one

out-of-print LaserDisc edition (sleeve), Thursday, 24 August 2023 00:20 (one year ago)

nah, no time ;)

ian, Thursday, 24 August 2023 00:28 (one year ago)

you know there's lots of records in the world that all of us have never heard of right

― ian

I was joking.

Still, I only recognize Gabor Szabo from this whole list and tbh even his name sounds made up.

✖✖✖ (Moka), Thursday, 24 August 2023 00:48 (one year ago)

Sorry i'm not great a humor all the time

ian, Thursday, 24 August 2023 00:49 (one year ago)

only thing I know here is May Blitz I think. that Gordon Mumma album has a cool cover but I’ve never heard it. It’s probably the first thing I’d pull out to listen to

brimstead, Thursday, 24 August 2023 01:00 (one year ago)

I loved Midi Maxi & Efti!

Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable POST (Dan Peterson), Thursday, 24 August 2023 02:54 (one year ago)

Haha yeah that “Bad Bad Boys” song comes into my head a few times a year. Had to vote that one. From among the uh many many records on this list I am of course familiar with

Lavator Shemmelpennick, Thursday, 24 August 2023 04:32 (one year ago)

Midi, Maxti and Efti is literally the only entry on the list I recognize

I? not I! He! He! HIM! (akm), Thursday, 24 August 2023 06:02 (one year ago)

Mecki Mark Men was the point where I realized I didn't need every Europrog album from 1967-1969, but I did vote for it anyway.

Elvis Telecom, Thursday, 24 August 2023 06:32 (one year ago)

Mumma ftw

Monthly Python (Tom D.), Thursday, 24 August 2023 06:34 (one year ago)

sandy nassan's just guitar (listening to that opening track makes my fingers hurt!)

no lime tangier, Thursday, 24 August 2023 09:33 (one year ago)

funky alternatives 2 looks interesting having checked the track list on Discogs. Tempted to vote earland's jam although it's him at his cheesiest. Marcia's Waltz after his wife I think is cool. Silvia Striplin, maybe?

mmmm, Thursday, 24 August 2023 11:43 (one year ago)

dont know any of these

Toshirō Nofune (The Seventh ILXorai), Thursday, 24 August 2023 11:48 (one year ago)

sylvia striplin

fair but so uncool beliefs here (Eric H.), Thursday, 24 August 2023 12:26 (one year ago)

Im gonna check out the charles earland and nona hendryx albums as ive got others by them

Toshirō Nofune (The Seventh ILXorai), Thursday, 24 August 2023 13:05 (one year ago)

its nice to see that there are other people here who enjoy the sylvia striplin album! its a work of art. and new to me! these are all things i bring home to listen to and they end up in a box and eventually i get to them. also new to me is that urohauz single! i keep playing it. so good.

Ooh I have actually heard that Szabo album when I was going through his records earlier this year, nice one.

50 Favorite Jordans (Jordan), Thursday, 24 August 2023 16:42 (one year ago)

have only heard Vicious Beat Posse, SPK and Crumbsuckers I think. of those, Crumbsuckers

I love Neon Judgement but haven't heard that one. actually it looks like a kind of best of comp? def has a bunch of great tracks on it. that might actually be my favourite

Colonel Poo, Thursday, 24 August 2023 20:06 (one year ago)

I no nunner deez

Mark G, Thursday, 24 August 2023 20:16 (one year ago)

my faves would be: may blitz, gordon mumma, urohauz, mecki mark men, big black, joseph, sylvia striplin, and that it came from slimey valley punk comp. kind of a tie between sylvia striplin and mecki mark men. they both made a big impression on me. powerful music.

scott seward, Thursday, 24 August 2023 20:37 (one year ago)

I'm not sure which version is on that Neon Judgement compilation but this song rules so much https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQtaNgipCSs

Colonel Poo, Saturday, 26 August 2023 03:04 (one year ago)

Have heard Szabo, Hendryx, Earland, but not those albums. Earland once cued me to hold his amp in place because it was sliding toward edge of stage, had a really jazz-boogie stomp w young band, and told me what album he'd made with them, but I've forgotten if I got it? Got several by him, but this title doesn't seem familiar. Voted Midi Maxi & Efti because I def remember kinda liking most of it although resisted what seemed like quaalude (downs) vocals, but they did it as part of that groove and then "Ragga Dub" got faster! I have attentive friends who love the whole thing though.

dow, Saturday, 26 August 2023 03:39 (one year ago)

voted v/a - it came from slimy valley

budo jeru, Wednesday, 30 August 2023 00:41 (one year ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Friday, 1 September 2023 00:01 (one year ago)

Looking forward to Mike Stax finishing his book on Gabor Szabo. I still need to read the one on Matreika Kali.

I remember what I've heard by May Blitz being good heavy prog. Have definitely heard them on samplers not sure if I heard the full l.p. at least not recently. Did BGO do a set with 2Lps on CD.

Mecki Mark Men were a great Swedish band I think interrelated with a few other bands from the same place.

Stevo, Friday, 1 September 2023 20:26 (one year ago)

mecki mark men turned into baby grandmothers and kebnekajse. uh, you know, the various members went on to that stuff.

scott seward, Friday, 1 September 2023 20:50 (one year ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Saturday, 2 September 2023 00:01 (one year ago)

Kebnekajse were pretty good too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yuvO_5PCdE

looks like 2 members of mecki Mark Men were involved with Parsson and at least a couple of his various drone bands.
