After Dinner - early-80s Japanese avant-prog, more quirky chanson/theatrical influences than Magma though
Arachnoid - late-70s French avant prog in the vein of King Crimson
Archaïa - late-70s French avant prog in the vein of Magma
Armageddon - Keith Relf's post-Yardbirds/Renaissance and pre-death by electrocution band. UK's answer to Captain Beyond maybe, lengthy LZ-inspited proggy hard rock
Blind Idiot God - by far the best act from SST's late-80s foray into instrumental music, almost proto-black metal other than the reggae tracks of course
Coltemönikha - lesser-known side-project of Yasutaka Nakata (Perfume/Kyary PP producer). Sounds like everything else he does
Barry Dransfield - early-70s UK folk-rock, erring towards the folk end of that particular spectrum

Gracious! - proto-prog, heard worse
Ground-Zero - Otomo Yoshihide's noise-rock band, Naked City without the archness
Gruppo D'improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza - Ennio Morricone & chums play free-form improv
Haco - After Dinner singer in a minimal ethno-pop vein
Happy End - Hosono's early psych-pop band
High Tide - grunt rock/prog/psych with amazing fuzz guitaring and insane violin work from Simon House, later of Hawkwind/Bowie

I.S.O. - Otomo Yoshihide & Sachiko M again in a minimal sinewave style this time
Kampec Dolores - Hungarian avant-rock, for fans of both The Ex and Márta Sebestyén
Lard Free - early band of Gilbert Artman of Urban Sax, for fans of Faust and Amon Düül 1
Lost Aaraaff - v. early Keiji Haino band, imagine Conlon Nancarrow forming a psych-rock band and you'd be getting close(r)
Malicorne - French electric folk
Albert Marcoeur - French, for fans of Aksak Maboul if there are any
Marcus - mid-70s American hard rock, like a cross between Zep and Alice Cooper erring towards the glam. Was never going to sell a lot tbh
Maxophone - Italian prog aka RPI

Great great list this one, very hard to choose but Nuova Consonanza just over Lost Aaraaff.

Oh hell yeah I love ILM top 2 results OTM!!! I don’t think I even voted on this one. Been rocking “the night they drove old Dixie down” the past month and it nearly made me pick the album over “big pink” in my poll. Anyways, great stuff. Would have given cluster a vote if I knew it wouldn’t get any!
