Never see that Awesome 3 track referenced anywhere, easy choice for me

I also did it for 1974 which is maybe the more interesting list but nm

There are lots of great tracks here, but only one is in my top 5 tracks of all time, so it was an easy choice in the end.

A few I like but I love Blood Makes Noise. Suzanne Vega is so underrated nowadays

U2 - Salomé (Zooromancer Remix)

Never heard this one before

Heller & Farley were behind the mix, which naturally allied it to the Boy's Own sphere (who included it on this excellent compilation https://www.discogs.com/release/5745-Various-JBO-A-Perspective-1988-1998 )

Trying to go with what i would have voted for in 92 and it's between Ride, Suede and The Prodigy.

Blue Room

out-of-print LaserDisc edition (sleeve), Friday, 25 August 2023 21:35 (one year ago)

Avenue is good too. “Don’t Go” and “Avenue” probably the ones I literally listened to the most in ‘92.

Josefa, Friday, 25 August 2023 21:48 (one year ago)

Also the (at least lyrically) naff GDS track is an indulgence as there's a very strong nostalgic attachment. Had this list been new I'd have probably opted for this as my folk festival main tent classic of 92. I ultimately have a major weakness for this sort of thing.

I think the Awesome 3 "Don't Go" Kicks Like a Mule Mix was the first thing I ever heard that was jungle, or proto-drum and bass. It was definitely different sounding.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Suede. I preferred "In Liverpool" from that Suzanne Vega album.

Halfway there but for you, Monday, 4 September 2023 01:32 (one year ago)

The Boo Radleys - Lazarus
The Cure - This Twilight Garden
Suede - My Insatiable One
Pulp - Babies
Ride - Leave Them All Behind

fwiw although it's my No. 1, Wrapped in Grey is always going to be interchangeable with Rook.

one year passes...

Tell you what should have been on this, and only wasn't because to preserve strong nostalgia I don't get it out too often - the 1992 12" of Marching on Together :p

It was probably my first intro to rave music of a sort. It's a bit Big Tenty '92 style with the Italo house pianos, hardcore vamps and White Lines bass parts, but its breakbeats are essentially big beat tempo - up there with Song to the Siren in contemporary terms. It's never particularly frenetic and the main thing is it has instrumental hooks for miles.
