Albums I've considered stone cold classics from present day to my youth. Probably missing a dozen or two that I'll regret not listing in a week's time. Kept it to one album per artist

Fennesz, but if polls had been finished yet I might have thrown one to pet sounds depending if it was getting any votes or not. Others should pick up my slack

H.P, Saturday, 26 August 2023 09:11 (one year ago)

Should have been Aenima but couldn't ignore the Susumu Yokota. Nice list!

(picnic, lightning) very very frightening (Chinaski), Saturday, 26 August 2023 09:16 (one year ago)

You've probably got the most overlap with my own 50 that I've seen so far, at least 6 or 7 (haven't actually made a 50, don't plan to). The Bjork album is in my top 5 of all time

Can't not vote for Larks Tongues... 154 + Exai tied in 2nd place

atonar, Saturday, 26 August 2023 12:39 (one year ago)

Went for Autechre because I know I really like Exai but it's so absurdly appealing how much mental hard-drive space being a fan of theirs takes up, like a whole brain partition, and right now said partition is still dealing with Elseq (nevermind NTS) and trying to parse the recently-released live stuff

If I luge, if I luge, if I luge you on the track (Craig D.), Saturday, 26 August 2023 22:39 (one year ago)

I went with Tool for this one, a looooooooongtime favorite that I didn’t expect to see on any of these polls!

The Triumphant Return of Bernard & Stubbs (Raymond Cummings), Saturday, 26 August 2023 22:43 (one year ago)

At least 22 albums I love, and as usual probably a bunch I would love if I was more familiar with them, or if someone put them on.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 27 August 2023 13:09 (one year ago)

I feel some artists are untouchable, yet haven't put together a "perfect" album. There probably should be a Boards of Canada, Chic, and Sly Stone record on my list but I feel all of their albums, even the pinnacle ones, are flawed. I feel the ones listed are nearly flawless from beginning to end.

octobeard, Sunday, 27 August 2023 23:57 (one year ago)

went for dj rashad, a true genre defining classic

is he disgruntled adrian? (voodoo chili), Monday, 28 August 2023 02:54 (one year ago)

Even though there are a couple I had on my list, going with Larks because it's really good

The Terroir of Tiny Town (WmC), Monday, 28 August 2023 02:58 (one year ago)

Great stuff. Today, it's the Avalanches for me.

official representative of Roku's Basketshit in at least one alternate u (lukas), Monday, 28 August 2023 04:26 (one year ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

System, Thursday, 31 August 2023 00:01 (one year ago)

Number of albums heard: 18

Favourite: Mwandishi

Least-favourite: Moroder (though I like the Donna Summer records and "Life in Tokyo")

Nicest surprise: King Crimson

Unheard, but most want to hear: Deloused in the Comatorium

Halfway there but for you, Thursday, 31 August 2023 16:22 (one year ago)

FWIW the Blackalicious record is my GOAT hip hop record. Just perfect from beginning to end (beats and raps). Perhaps I'm biased due to locality (Oakland), but for those who haven't heard it and like rap music, check that one out

octobeard, Thursday, 31 August 2023 21:17 (one year ago)

RIP Gift of Gab

pretty wild 4-way tie there

I think I voted for Herbie, but looking at the zeroes I wish I'd vote for ESG

rob, Friday, 1 September 2023 00:05 (one year ago)

Wow ... love that DJ Rashad is one of those 4! I'm pretty pumped how many others got a vote too. That Arvo Pärt record got a lot more attention than I expected and that makes me happy. Shaham's violin performance on Fratres is all time

octobeard, Friday, 1 September 2023 00:13 (one year ago)

Pretty sure I quietly gave DJ Rashad the nod early on. I still feel like a bit of an interloper in that genre but it's so attractively bonkers rhythmically.

Though now part of me is sad that I didn't spare The Cold Vein or Blazing Arrow from nul points!
