My 50 Summer Playlist Perennial Favorites

I never thought about it as a particularly summer song, but "Somebody's Crying" totally works. As does a lot of Chris Isaak stuff. Very car top down.

Obviously 'Cool in the Pool'.

I went with Loudon because that song is perfect.

No particular reason I didn't include Summer Madness other than I did this pretty quickly and thought for a moment it might be too obvious. Also why I included a different Jonathan Richman song besides That Summer Feeling.

Swimming Ground for me. I discovered the Meat Puppets right around the time that I discovered a place in the woods where kids would jump out of a tree into the river.

Other aquatic songs from that summer were Jimi Hendrix May This Be Love and Smashing Pumpkins Drown, lol.

Both Fantasy and Be Thankful are some of my favorite songs of all time. I’ll probably go with Fantasy because it’s probably the one my friends would like better in a “drinking cocktails by the pool” scenario, but honestly can see those two - and a whole others - on this list working. So, good job.

Lotta good stuff here but I zeroed in on "Walking into Sunshine" right away and nothing else has been able to change my mind

"Beechwood Park", though the Sparks song is a nice surprise to see. "Girl Don't Tell Me" isn't a particular favourite Beach Boys song, but it's an interesting example of a summer downer before their later "downers most of the time" phase.
