Nina is definitely one for the canon. So many of her to choose from - 'Mississippi goddam', 'seeline woman', 'baltimore' and 'funkier than a monquito's tweeter' are also songs I have been obsessed with for years - but I'm gonna go with the easy choice this time.

I've regarded both Cloudbusting and Stop Bajon as my all-time favourite at one time or another, will be tough choosing between them

Strawberry Skies, 93 til Infinity, Computer Love and Inspector Norse are all 10/10 too. Peanut Butter not far off

Was painful but went with SpottieOttieDopaliscious. If you had Akanamali or Sonini instead of Ubomi Abumanga I might have very well gone for that. Those songs have given me more rushes of pure emotion in all contexts than nearly any of the others listed above outside of my pick and maybe Cloudbusting.

all of those sun-el songs are a 10/10 imho. Gave ubomi abumanga the edge because it’s the only one of those three I’ve heard in a social setting and it heightened the song for me seeing a big group of people vibing to it as hard as I was lol

The Message was so mind-blowing when it came out in 82/83 gotta go with that

That “steel an skin” song and “afro punk reggae” are phenomenal. Everyone should get into that single. Hate that it’s not on spotify but managed to get the Em records reissue.

I mean it’s the dub version of same song but it goes down hard.

Their “fire in soweto” cover is also great

Lol I think the original is actually my favorite one, ODB’s verse is funny but it’s annoying on repeated listens. you can just assume it’s the og one.

I was born the year that album came out so of course I didn’t get the experience of witnessing it but it would’ve blown my mind seeing the music video paired with such a kickass song.

"Aquatic Ambience" and "Stickerbush" are my favorites of the series but there's so much good music in there. I made remixes of "Hot-Head Bop" and "In a Snow-Bound Land" with some vocalists some time back

Oh yeah that video is also awesome. Also different mix used for the music video iirc so the drums sound even more massive to make sense with the visuals.

Yeah just double checked and the whole song used for the MV is a remix. Really cool version.

I had never spent time comparing versions… so on spotify there’s a “video mix” but oddly enough that’s not the version used on the video? The version used on the video is the “club version”.
