Some of these have been favourites for years, some of them I've only recently discovered, but together they pretty much sum up where my musical tastes lie.

Boring but true answer would be Talk Talk

Good to see that Gillian Welch album appearing in a lot of these polls. Rightfully so.

Saxophone Of Futility (Michael B), Thursday, 31 August 2023 12:32 (one year ago)

Oh snap, Departure Lounge! So unheard but so damn good.

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Thursday, 31 August 2023 13:23 (one year ago)

Of the ones I know, Our Time In Eden was the pick

The Triumphant Return of Bernard & Stubbs (Raymond Cummings), Thursday, 31 August 2023 13:25 (one year ago)

Difficult choices here! Had to go with the Current 93 - that one's been on regular rotation here since 1992.

I'm so curious about the inclusion of Heather Nova's Siren.

I could see a legit debate over whether Glow Stars or Oyster is a better album (I go for the first, which I've ranted about elsewhere as being a secret early 90s dream-pop masterpiece, but I could understand opting for the latter on the basis of "Heal" and "Island" alone), but after that the drop-off feels hard to me.

had to vote for my favorite AMM record over several other personal faves here

out-of-print LaserDisc edition (sleeve), Thursday, 7 September 2023 01:51 (one year ago)

Still Life!

nerve_pylon, Thursday, 7 September 2023 03:15 (one year ago)

Had to vote for the Band. I've played the shit out of that since Robertson's death, and I've been to a bunch of concerts or social gatherings where someone played one of their songs as a tribute.

Good to find another Heather Nova fan on ILM, I thought I was the only one. I've actually never heard Glowstars, I should rectify that. Siren just edges Oyster for me, it's the more consistent record imo.

xps

Number of albums heard: 15

Favourite: Still Life over Henry Cow

Least-favourite: Steven Wilson, though I liked The Incident better

Nicest surprise: Slapp Happy

Unheard, but most want to hear: Shirley Collins

Halfway there but for you, Thursday, 7 September 2023 17:36 (one year ago)

Went with NWW. Possibly the first opportunity i have ever had to vote for them.

Missed this one… would’ve voted for “ Les Rallizes Dénudés – ’77 Live”

Cool list… not particularly “summer” music to me but several albums I love.
