You gotta Poll With It: oasis vs steve winwood

Both kinda crappy. Giving the nod to Winwood for extenuating circumstances (namely Gimme Some Lovin and Valerie).

"Roll with It"'s one of the two or three Oasis songs I really like. Steve Winwood on his own is gruesome--for me, a late-'80s nadir.

Voted for Winwood, which was a vote for his best stuff with Spencer Davis, Traffic, Blind Faith, etc...they all had uneven albums and IMHO the only great album he's ever done as the lead musician was Traffic's self-titled, but he's probably released at least three solid hours of truly great music over his long career. I can enjoy maybe an hour of Oasis, but I think Winwood's lifetime of work had much higher peaks many times over.

Always thought the Oasis one kinda stole from the Winwood one when he sings the title - same key, words, rhythm, just singing a harmony rather than the melody line. Oasis song still gets my vote, because it's not one of Winwood's best. If we're polling careers, Winwood takes it by a lot

I generally think of solo Winwood as mushmouthed trash but I was recently putting together a playlist of the pop songs I think of as most emblematic of this specific era and I kept deleting and re-adding 'Roll With It' despite my seeming distaste. It seems I just can't shake you, Steve.

(I still can't discern like 90% of the lyrics despite having heard the thing probably 100+ times over the years.)

Oasis song is mediocre sludge, Steve Winwood is dire shit.

I reflexively voted for Winwood on the grounds that he's not Oasis. But it's one of Oasis's better songs and one of Winwood's worst.

Roll With It was for me the moment that Oasis tipped over into irretrievably shit, can't remember how the Steve Winwood track goes, so I'm happy to vote for that.

Oasis are just such insufferable cunts it's hard to vote for them ever.

Oasis' "Roll With It" is mediocre yeah, i think probably the most forgettable track on a pretty solid album.

Winwood's is the sound of striding confidently into a TGIFriday's for happy hour.

Can we clarify whether this is a poll for their songs named "Roll With It" or a career poll?

So apparently Steve Winwood's Roll With It was a US number one single, but only got to #53 in the UK, whereas Oasis's Roll With It was a UK number two single, but did not chart in the USA. Hope that's all useful when casting yr votes.

My favorite Winwood tracks weren't the #1s. "Roll With It" is a song written for the sake of filming a black and white video showing the travails of white people sweating under klieg lights in a "blues" club.
