Music accounts on Bluesky?

Recommend me some Bluesky music accounts to follow.

I'm on Bluesky as @every80spopsong.bsky.social (Casey Skeets-Em) posting on every 80s pop song that charted or was a pick in Billboard, Cash Box and/or Record World, chronologically.

I've found music discussion on Bluesky to be pretty bad! Would also be interested in learning of other good accounts, tho.

Then next year I'm thinking of posting my favourite 30 recordings from the 1890s, then doing 1900s, 1910s and so on.

Thank you, westofrome, I was the one who used your code to get in. I used to tweet a bit about music (nothing too particular, just commenting on new releases & general chat with people I followed -- love your idea for your account btw) but ever since the M*sk takeover I pretty much gave up on that website. Bluesky seems a bit empty for now but hopefully some music community will take hold sooner or later. I will post an invite code here when I get one, too

as per twitter i have set up my corner on bluesky as marke23.
also i have a couple of codes up for grabs if there are still folks who need them.

i must’ve followed tom ewing on twitter too but due to the low volume of posts on bsky i notice his posts a lot more (probably 1/10 posts on my feed are tom’s). currently enjoying his top 100 songs of the 21st century rundown. he posts too much about comics though

I’m gonna have to tweak my feed; I used artists’ first names as keywords (to catch folks referring to them that way), but it’s bringing in too much chaff…

Seems like very few on Bluesky are listening to current southern soul by the likes of King George, Miss Jody, Vick Allen , Pokey Bear or Tucka . Probably never heard the late Mel Waiters or ZZ Hill either. Or Lattimore.

One El Gran Combo post and none for Grupo Niche , and just a few Eddie Palmieri, so that means likely not many salsa or Latin jazz fans too

If the bluesky search engine is correct, my posting of my Washington City Paper preview of Colombian salsa greats Grupo Niche , is the first mention of that band on bluesky. There are a number of mentions of that group on Threads and X and Facebook and Instagram.

It's not just that bluesky has less people on it, it's that there's less folks into music on it, and especially less people into non-rock music on it.

It has less folks into music and non-rock music on it *because* there are far, far fewer people on it. But percentage-wise, it is likely very similar. The problem for you is that your main area of interest is (sadly, I agree) pretty niche in America, so it is going to take some time for people into "global thread" music to end up on Bluesky in any sort of noticeable numbers.

Expecting to switch from a platform with 400 million people and a "peer group" that you've been cultivating for some period of time (months? years?) to one with 2 million people that you joined recently and expecting to find a similar experience is setting yourself up for disappointment.

I haven’t switched. Using both. Some of the time I am doing what I see former ilxor Some Dude is doing— just posting the same thing on Twitter/x and Bluesky. And sometimes I will do so on Threads as well!

Funny, I was just thinking about my own usage of all three and wondering what other people do. I kinda hate this time of transition where we don't really know what's next ... if anything, really.
