I am really enamoured of the 'genre' of song that is voiced by a disgruntled poor guy who's been screwed over by a rich girl/girl's rich boyfriend and who's trying to act tough but secretly is really cut up . . . examples: 'Play With Fire' by the Rolling Stones, 'Poor Man's Thing' by Rickford Ziekowski and the Sheppards, there must be some contemporary ones . . . or does anyone have a similar 'genre' they like?

Quite on the opposite, there is the remarkably crass "Eat your heart out" by the Lords of the New Church... In which Stiv Bators treats his uptown girl in designer jeans like dirt, but hey! she's addicted to his loser arse. "Shuddup and siddown - Rich bitch, eatsh your heart out!". It's like a BH90210 lass head over heels in lust with some DeeDee Ramone type: she's bound to be molested.

"You're a rich girl, and you've gone too far, 'cause you know it don't matter anyway..." - some band that basically ripped off their whole career from Phoenix, then time-travelled back to 70s Philly.

The best source for this sort of song would be 'Nuggets, Vols. 1 thru infinity'.

Unfortunately, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road comes to mind.

Luckily, (I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea has replaced it.
