New song is great!
― Bee OK, Tuesday, 31 October 2023 19:55 (two years ago)
Sounds kind of like... Oasis?
― PaulTMA, Tuesday, 31 October 2023 19:57 (two years ago)
^ I came here to post exactly that.
― Indexed, Tuesday, 31 October 2023 20:06 (two years ago)
yeah pretty much. certainly doesn't grab me like "Me and Michael" did, but their songs have a tendency to grow on me
― Vinnie, Wednesday, 1 November 2023 14:49 (two years ago)
New video directed by Tom Scharpling, lots of grunge video references

doesn't seem like this is going to be another little dark age, oh well
― ufo, Wednesday, 29 November 2023 23:11 (two years ago)
Little Dark Age is their best album and they won't top it. I do really like the first single but this one did nothing for me.
― Bee OK, Saturday, 2 December 2023 01:56 (two years ago)
I probably prefer this to "Mother Nature", which plays it a little too straight. this one has some turns. these are two of their weakest singles though
― Vinnie, Saturday, 2 December 2023 02:17 (two years ago)
Kinda nuts that Little Dark came out nearly 6 years ago.
― Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Saturday, 2 December 2023 02:43 (two years ago)
that song sounds like ween
― Western® with Bacon Flavor, Saturday, 2 December 2023 03:13 (two years ago)
That’s what I thought too. Will be funny if this ends up a Ween album for people who can’t stand Ween.

Video is great and the song is beautiful, just not the best that they can do.

― Bee OK, Thursday, 18 January 2024 00:32 (one year ago)
again, decent song, but it's probably just not what I'm looking for from them. I've lost a lot of enthusiasm for the album. video is good though
― Vinnie, Thursday, 18 January 2024 12:06 (one year ago)
Yall see me get slimed in that bubble gum dog vid
― kurt schwitterz, Thursday, 18 January 2024 13:37 (one year ago)
That video is lovely, apparently she is a well known disability TikToker?
― Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 18 January 2024 14:46 (one year ago)
Video stuck with me, so I explored some more. Her name is Inga Petry, born without arms, currently a college student and - bonus - apparently now has stage 3 breast cancer. I found a couple of different Go Fund Me's, which is confusing:

If any of you know which (if either) of these is (most) legit, lmk.

This story is heart wrecking, thanks for the research.

this is definitely the best single from the new album so far
― ufo, Tuesday, 20 February 2024 21:53 (one year ago)
Wasn't expecting that ending. They have now shared 40% of the album.
― Bee OK, Wednesday, 21 February 2024 05:33 (one year ago)
Album is out today, don't currently have a way to listen. Will sign up for something soon.
― Bee OK, Friday, 23 February 2024 05:36 (one year ago)
The Christine single is excellent!
There's been a lot of 80s revivalism all about the sonics, but "Dancing in Babylon" sounds like 80s songwriting to me - Cyndi Lauper vibes, familiar yet fresh
― corrs unplugged, Friday, 23 February 2024 07:21 (one year ago)
I end up only caring for the two title-track bookend parts, but then again, am only a v casual fan/passing admirer from afar
― The Roadman Bill Callahan II (Craig D.), Friday, 23 February 2024 13:48 (one year ago)
I enjoyed the album. Can certainly see it disappointing fans of Little Dark Age though.
― Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Friday, 23 February 2024 18:48 (one year ago)
this album is just alright, "dancing in babylon" is the only one where the weirdo semi-pastiche sound they've come up with here really clicks. the rest is just not quite there
― ufo, Saturday, 24 February 2024 09:30 (one year ago)
ufo otm except i also like "nothing changes" and "people on the streets"

"i wish i was joking" is terrible
― the defenestration of prog (voodoo chili), Wednesday, 6 March 2024 15:22 (one year ago)
definitely a better album than I thought it would be: the first three singles are probably my least favorite tracks. "Dancing in Babylon", "Nothing Changes", and closing track are all very good. this album still feels pretty far away from Congratulations or Little Dark Age
― Vinnie, Sunday, 10 March 2024 02:48 (one year ago)
I keep forgetting about this album, will try and play it tonight.
― Bee OK, Saturday, 16 March 2024 02:48 (one year ago)
Mother nature beautiful
― H.P, Saturday, 16 March 2024 03:10 (one year ago)
I'm mostly impressed these blokes, 19 years on from time to pretend and kids, still have new and interesting musical ground to cover. I've got a lot of respect for the music they've created after releasing one of the best songs of 2005 as their very first released song.
― H.P, Saturday, 16 March 2024 03:14 (one year ago)
I'll repeat it again: time to pretend is absolutely phenomenal song to start your career with. The kind of song you put out then pack it up and rest on your laurels. The fact they've kept going, continuing to try new things is a real testament to the love for music these guys have. Halfway through listening to this album but I'm impressed yet again
― H.P, Saturday, 16 March 2024 03:17 (one year ago)
This album is good, not great but so much better than the reaction here and in the reviews I have read. Side 2 is the highlight with "Nothing Changes" probably being the best song.
― Bee OK, Sunday, 17 March 2024 01:50 (one year ago)
Only reason it's not great is because it followed Little Dark Age which is the best thing they have ever done.
― Bee OK, Sunday, 17 March 2024 02:13 (one year ago)
It all goes downhill after Nothing Changes
― nostormo, Sunday, 17 March 2024 18:22 (one year ago)
I think the last four songs are the best part of the album!
― Vinnie, Sunday, 17 March 2024 19:43 (one year ago)
not a song by mgmt, but the hit song by the band djo (fronted by joe keery of stranger things and fargo) def has the energy
