The third of four from a series of shoegaze bands polls that are being run in a row, even if not all albums (like this one) is not shoegaze.

I loved this album at the time and have no idea what to think about it today, so looking forward to a listen. I remember loving the speed induced songs of being angry and aggressively hard.

It's their metallic album, it followed their two shoegaze LPs and then after this came their psych album. It's fun but the least of their first four for me (the fifth isn't worth your time). Went with "Judy Staring At The Sun" but it has to be the version with Tanya Donelly guesting.

at first i didn't like it because it's like haute bush, then i decided meh it's fun enough. then i forgot it focused on the shoegaze albums. i still have the disc, i'm almost afraid to listen. good thing i have a year to fit that in to vote.

They were maybe my favorite band around when this came out and I just never took to it and it still barely exists to me. Was into the b-sides collection and follow-up tho.

This album leaves a lot to be desired. I did like the more pop stuff this go around like "Heal" and "Judy."

My memory of this was the song like "My Exhibition," so hard and angry. Has to get my vote.

I return to this one the least (Wishville has always been worth my time!) but I really enjoy it anytime I do. Love the sequencing as much as any particular song, feel like there's no way to shape all these diverging impulses into an album except the one where "Eat My Dust" sits in the middle and creates the impression of two discrete halves (exhibitionist, fizzy). I'll blast this next summer and decide.

take this huge expanse of sound and wrap it in these rags I found

Lol, I meant for this to close today. I have messed up the Days or Months before but never the Year.

Album is the very definition of mediocre.

Yeah, that solo album was pretty good! I know Rob's happily building cars but expanded reissues of his work would be welcome.

Gerald McBoing-Boing, Friday, 6 December 2024 04:19 (eight months ago)

I'm pretty sure that is a joke. I should have done Like Cats and Dogs instead, if I ever do another Catherine Wheel poll it would be Ferment, tho Adam and Eve could be interesting. That being said, I never knew about the solo album so thanks.
