I actually only discovered that Clean album recently. It's maybe a bit light, a lot of instrumentals but it's a great listen. "Stars" one of their finest songs.

There's good music on the ten I've heard, though Tool escaped me a little. Let's say Radiohead over Bjork.

When I was first going down this list I was thinking it was going to be hard to beat We Love Life and there was some competition like Insignificance, - Bright Flight or It's A Wonderful Life upmost others. Then I got to the end and there sitting there was Rings Around the World, easy choice after all.

Gee, great year. 2001 might be the year I got a CD-R drive as I can 'see' possibly half of these as CD-R duplicates with scrawled titles. (Many of which may still survive as spares inside the cases of retail copies bought subsequently!)

Let's go with The Cold Vein, largely for the production. Narrowly ahead of Bright Flight, Idiology, Any Other City, Vespertine and Sound-Dust.

I didn't vote for it, but when I was working in school, our little group in the computer lab loved Rooty. I haven't really listened to it since then though - I can't even remember the last time I put it on.

Leonard Cohen's "Ten New Songs" is there twice. That's actually the album of these that I still listen to the most, though "Love and Theft" had a bigger impact on me at the time.

Too many classics (Bjork, Missy, Low, Radiohead, Aaliyah, Aphex, Tool, Fugazi, Basement Jaxx, throw Mouse on Mars and Can Ox in there, why not). But it's The Blueprint.

I gained much more appreciation for Amnesiac when I saw the tour that year. It worked much better live.

The Leonard Cohen probably means the most to me now. I doubt I would have said that in 2001.

I’m going with DNTEL as I coincidentally re-discovered how much I like it a few weeks ago and it holds a lot of meaning between one of my best friends and myself.

Basement Jaxx live has been one of the most fun concerts I’ve been to but somehow I just don’t like how they sound on the albums. I don’t know if it’s the mix or what exactly but they annoy me lol

My favorite album of 2001 is probably Spiritualized’s Let It Come Down, but that’s not on this list. So I’ll vote for Melody AM.

Is This It - haven’t heard this in years, no idea if it holds up, was obsessed with it at the time though

Rings Around the World - Ehhh… I liked this a lot at the time but I hadn’t heard Guerilla yet which is so much better.

Drukqs - The critical lashing this album got at the time was so unfair. It’s soooo much better than Syro. How could anybody hate “Avril 14th”?

Amnesiac - This is where I got off the Radiohead bus. “Like Spinning Plates” is horrid!

After the Pulp and Discovery, Zoot Woman and Only People Place are probably my highest play count. Both are very easy listening

There's so many albums here I love, but my own favourite of 2001 is either Rooty or Rings Around the World. Both are here ofc but I will probably go for the latter.

Guerrilla and RATW switch around as my fav SFA album, whereas I think for Jaxx I've been settled on Kish Kash (against Remedy and Rooty) now long enough for it to cease being an unstable favourite.

"Discovery" for me. Tough choice since there are a few favorites released that year.

listening to the strokes now and it's like...

this is solid retro pop rock but how on earth did we mistake it for garage rock? it's so polite! people (esp in the UK) projected so much weird stuff onto this band in order to kickstart the scene they wanted to happen. rarely has an album title felt more appropriate

At the time I would have said Daft Punk or Aaliyah or Jay-Z, but Iron Flag has ended up being the album I have listened to most from this year over the past few decades, as well as my (opinions4u) favourite Wu-Tang Clan album.

The one that’s lasted best for me is Insignificance, which I didn’t hear until 2002. Spacek’s Curvatia was a big favourite at the time, as was Dolly Parton’s Little Sparrow.
