"Why won't you dance with me / I'm not no limburger"
and
"It's gettin' hot in herre / So take off all your clothes"

GO!

(I honestly tried to search this but came up empty. Save the hate if I'm reproducing an idea or a specific observation.)

"Because I Would Not Stop for Death" by Emily Dickinson fits perfectly into the Gilligan's Island theme!!!

(p.s. why is there confusion about the title of this pome! some place say "Could" some say "Would" and some say "Would (Could)"!)

Dr. Demento used to play a version of "Stairway to Heaven" that used the "Gilligan's Island" lyrics. That was back when I listened to Dr. Demento, so one million years ago. Boy what a geek.

So there's your connexion: Emily Dickinson to Robert Plant to Sherwood Schwartz and back. Wow.

I used to know a guy that never said anything, was very shy and quiet, but you get him in the car with some rock radio on, and he'd go off on this, some I can remember quite clearly...

"when I humped a hound" (to Green Day's "When I Come Around")
"all anal is all I love" (to Nirvana's "All Apologies")
"all you need is drugs" (to The Beatles "All You Need is Love")
[in fact, he seemed fond of replacing "love" in songs with "drugs"...does that say something about him?]

My friend Dave had a good one. Try singing the "la la la la la" part of Minnie Ripperton's "Loving You" over the verses of Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4."

the lyrics to "he's the greatest dancer" fit the tune of "john wesley harding"

ie: "John Wesley Harding / Was a friend to the poor..." = "One night in a disco / On the outskirts of Frisco" etc etc

"Tankfly bosswalk jam nitty-gritty" & the start of "Summer In The City"; & you can sing the first bit of "The Guns Of Brixton" to the Colonel Bagshot samples in the mos def remix of "Six Days".

Music is My Radar vs Born To Be Wild:

Jew E Gah Bah Yaaaa Ahhhh/ lookin' fo' adven-tchuh! etc.
You can swap the riffs and everything.

If you sing the melody to "Genie in a Bottle" over "Hard to Explain" it fits perfectly.

Because I Would Not Stop For Death also fits perfectly into "the yellow rose of Texas"--as do most Emily Dickinson poems.

eleven years pass...

Yesterday I got the lyrics to "Life During Wartime" jammed up with the melody for "Mr Roboto":

We dress like students!
We dress like housewives!
Or in a suit and a tie....
I've changed my hairstyle!
So many times now!
Don't know what I look like...
WHAT I LOOK LIIIIIIIIIIKE
WHAT I LOOK LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKE!

three months pass...

I'm sure there's a better thread for this as it's not a perfect fit, but my brain is repeatedly singing the lyrics to 'Send Me a Postcard' to the tune of 'the Vile Stuff' at the moment.

seven months pass...

Now I've got the lyrics to 'Am I Evil' to the tune of 'River Deep, Mountain High'.
