Worthy Acts Snubbed by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

To the best of my knowledge, these acts aren't in the RnR HoF. List was made in 2019, at which time T. Rex was still on the list and still not in the hall. Written on the back of a paper bag in response to the query, "Well, if these nominations are so bad, who would you put in?" I guess it seemed to me at the time that these were all worthy acts. Vote for your favorite and tell me who I left out.

Big Star for sure.

that's when I reach for my copy of Revolver (WmC), Saturday, 10 February 2024 23:22 (one year ago)

Link Wray got in as a "Musical Influence" last year.

an icon of a worried-looking, long-haired, bespectacled man (C. Grisso/McCain), Saturday, 10 February 2024 23:26 (one year ago)

Chic is still not in, although Nile Rodgers is

jaymc, Saturday, 10 February 2024 23:28 (one year ago)

monkees, seriously

B. Amato (Boring, Maryland), Saturday, 10 February 2024 23:29 (one year ago)

Pretty much everyone on that list.

The British Boy of Film Classification (Tom D.), Sunday, 11 February 2024 00:03 (one year ago)

man at a glance many could easily satisfy me, but meters, Television, and lee dorsey are battling it out in my head just to start

a single gunshot and polite applause (Hunt3r), Sunday, 11 February 2024 00:34 (one year ago)

I want to say the Meters but honestly in my heart it's Dick Dale. I saw him live in '93 when Tribal Thunder came out and I thought the club was going to explode. It was as loud as a Pantera show in there.

yeah he was my other thought after Link Wray

Surfin' burbbhrbhbbhbburbbb (sleeve), Sunday, 11 February 2024 00:56 (one year ago)

I'll be honest and say there's at least five of these I couldn't tell you anything about. But for sheer influence Lightnin’ Hopkins seems a strange omission.

the most powerful man in cornish politics (Matt #2), Sunday, 11 February 2024 01:01 (one year ago)

Ahem… Iron Maiden, Blue Oyster Cult, Ronnie James Dio…

Jimmy Rodgers is in the hall.

The Artist formerly known as Earlnash, Sunday, 11 February 2024 02:48 (one year ago)

I can come up with an argument for all of them, but it's pretty sad that almost none of them are likely to get in at this point.

birdistheword, Sunday, 11 February 2024 07:04 (one year ago)

(except Wray who's now in)

birdistheword, Sunday, 11 February 2024 07:04 (one year ago)

Of those you list, probably the New York Dolls and Richard Berry. Of those not on there, Dionne Warwick and the Shangri-Las.

clemenza, Sunday, 11 February 2024 07:56 (one year ago)

Tangerine Dream and Yellow Magic Orchestra

beamish13, Sunday, 11 February 2024 08:19 (one year ago)

The RRHOF being American probably has alot to do with some of these omissions, like the Pretty Things and Cliff Richard who were nowhere near as popular in the US as in the UK; that likely also accounts for why T.Rex was only recently inducted.

Lee626, Sunday, 11 February 2024 08:30 (one year ago)

write in for Blue Oyster Cult

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Sunday, 11 February 2024 14:58 (one year ago)

Sonic Youth

jaymc, Sunday, 11 February 2024 15:09 (one year ago)

apologies about including Link Wray, like i said the list was made in 2019. i think BöC, Iron Maiden, Dio, and Sonic Youth are all great choices

budo jeru, Sunday, 11 February 2024 16:43 (one year ago)

Jimmy Rodgers is in the hall.

Thus Sang Freud, Sunday, 11 February 2024 18:44 (one year ago)

Scanning this list my main take away is at this point it is more of an honor to not be in the So-Called "Hall of Fame"

chr1sb3singer, Sunday, 11 February 2024 20:47 (one year ago)

On this list, for me, it's Dick Dale or the Monkees

But I would really like to see Styx nominated

Guayaquil (eephus!), Sunday, 11 February 2024 21:17 (one year ago)

Dick Dale for sure.

Sam Weller, Monday, 12 February 2024 09:58 (one year ago)

I have to reel in my earlier comment - a lot of these people probably make more sense as committee inductions for categories like "early influences," particularly the blues players, so there's still hope yet.

birdistheword, Monday, 12 February 2024 11:29 (one year ago)

Motorhead, Iron Maiden and Snoop Dogg

Siegbran, Monday, 12 February 2024 13:34 (one year ago)

Harry Nilsson not in, wtf.

Lee626, Tuesday, 13 February 2024 06:31 (one year ago)

Monkees not being in already is crazy.

Western® with Bacon Flavor, Tuesday, 13 February 2024 07:32 (one year ago)

Magic Sam or the Monkees, for completely different reasons.
