rolling "out" music 2024: daw gloops, aleatoric banditry, skronk duos, and the occasional peace sign

Following this thread: rolling frankly annoying quirked up random ass sounds glooped onto a DAW 2023

I wanted an updated version for weird music that doesn't totally fit into the hypergarbage container or elsewhere.

Franciska - Sange (maybe too tape-hissy/lo-fi for the aesthetic you're hoping to vaguely home in on? In any event she rules IMO, and Gothenburg's Discreet Music distro/Forlag For Fri Musik collective is keeping the noisy/experimental side of the freak-folk aesthetic alive atm--it's nothing if not 'out'):

Thanks Craig D— all of that is in line with the sort of stuff I'm thinking of. (Admittedly i find the Sheen a little too *nothing happening* for my tastes but i realize that's just me). The Franciska and Teu+ Jung DJ stuff is great!

table, we got a thread: rolling false positive corporate ambient 2024

Since this thread specifically mentions "skronk duos", new Writhing Squares out next month.

butt dumb tight my boners got boners (the table is the table), Monday, 11 March 2024 21:47 (one year ago)

butt dumb tight my boners got boners (the table is the table), Monday, 11 March 2024 21:47 (one year ago)

sorry i'm in a bad mood, it's not a big deal.

idk what I did or didn't like, the thread title is a reference to the press release for the last Tim Hecker album

sorry, that “like” was supposed to read “post”

Ka Baird- Bearings: Soundtracks for the Bardo’s

The music might not suggest it it, but her live performances are very athletic

bbq, Monday, 22 April 2024 04:47 (one year ago)

Ka is great, love seeing her live.

butt dumb tight my boners got boners (the table is the table), Monday, 22 April 2024 19:54 (one year ago)

i remember seeing her waaaaay back in the Spires days and she has always been an engaging performer imo. A legend!

Piggy Lepton (La Lechera), Monday, 22 April 2024 21:33 (one year ago)

oh totally! even impromptu performances from her are memorable— she did some "intro music" on an old upright piano for an event that i was a part of back in 2014, i believe, and her playing was just stunning. that was a great night— Yva Las Vega$$, Aeliana Nicole Boyer, Jenifer Tamayo, Ed Askew, myself. plus Ka!

woozy, languid, warped, melting. has enough unexpected details folded into it that it keeps my attention throughout

idk which thread to post in, but forma y fondo, the new album by mexican ambient artist fax which i first heard about in philip sherburne's newsletter, feels like it should go in this one

If you hate plugs for one's own music, please ignore this post:

I have been very productive this year and would like to share my favorite set of songs that I have recorded live in my basement. RIYL home recordings, repetitive phrases, gongs, gnarly synths, solo acts that are loud. It's also what I think is my most cohesive set and also was inspired by true events! Intrigued yet? Lol if you feel like listening here it is.

(Note: I am xposting to both 2024 bloops threads because I have been here a long time and am allowed to take up a little bit of space.)

Piggy Lepton (La Lechera), Thursday, 24 October 2024 01:05 (seven months ago)

on the other thread I suggested you put this on Bandcamp, I stand by that suggestion

i guess this is "out" by virtue of not being ... you know ... pabulum, but it's considerably more than DAW trifles, in fact it is an experimental pop masterpiece
