Don't love it enough to vote for it/them, but I do remember those Studio releases being an enthusiastically-received and v influential sound palette among the 'cosmic disco'/balearic home-studio electronic producer set (esp those who congregated on the Dream Chimney message board at that time)

I really like the Good the Bad and the Queen record, but this is either Burial, Stars of the Lid or Wolves in the Throne Room.

Took me a while to come around to the sedatedness of Sky Blue Sky. "Impossible Germany" is one of their greatest tunes.

Untrue, Kala, Underground Kings, Sound of Silver, In Rainbows? Jeez.

My fave MIA and LCD records. I listened to that UGK a ton when it came out. In Rainbows I liked but it's only grown over time. Untrue is iconic.

I mean I certainly listened a lot to Battles, Bon Iver, Dizzee (I have a soft spot for that one), that particular Of Montreal, Panda Bear, and The Field too.

This was my favorite year in music to live through - every single week had a great new album out.

I have much love for Sound of Silver.

I remember hearing The Good, the Bad and the Queen and being thrilled to hear Paul Simenon's bass, it was instantly recognizable. I don't think I've ever listened to the follow-up.

Pretty much the only thing I still play is the Wyatt record.

justice, chromeo, mgmt, simian mobile disco, mia. i think this was the first year in my life i ever want dancing in a club

Any year Radiohead release an album feels iconic to me for some reason, and 2007 is no exception. Like 1997, it does feel like a bit of a new chapter in terms of pop culture, some doors closing, others opening.
Electro-house was on the wane, making way for dubstep as the big cultural dance movement to take hold of the mainstream.
In Rainbows felt like the album Radiohead had been threatening to make for a while, and while not as pivotal as OKC and Kid A, it's among their best.
I associate the MGMT album with 2008 for some reason, but that record was everywhere.
Much as it's not aged especially well, I was deep into Hissing Fauna at the time, so I might just vote for that

I still don't get the fuss over Person Pitch. It just doesn't sound good to me.

Studio p much my album of the decade

Sound of Silver meant so much to me that year. it was the year I turned 21 and was starting to go to clubs and party a lot and that music really captured something important for me, I mean it was dance music I really liked because it sort of holds your hand in a way. by which I mean if you're already into 80s stuff it slots right in, as opposed to more modern stuff which I thought was a lot more loud and amelodic. I always felt club music should feel welcoming. he actually played Chicago on my 21st birthday, it was a real special night. dunno if I could listen to it with an open mind now though

west coast/yearbook 1 is way up there for me as well, a huge breath of fresh air when that came out.

I always thought all the "Panda is the new Brian Wilson" stuff to be a bit lazy and overblown but hearing that (plus his recent one with Sonic Boom) and I'm like...ok yeah he definitely is

much like MPP you'd think that album was gonna spawn a bunch of imitators but it now sounds like a time capsule. amazing cover art too.

speaking of could vote Strawberry Jam here, one of the few AnCo records that actually feels trim.

Voted "I'll Sleep When You're Dead" because I'm afraid nobody else will, and it's one of those late-Bush-era, everything-is-fucked paranoid howls that briefly went out of fashion and then became more relevant than ever.

got a lot of mileage out of Confederation Trough (CD EP) and Rushup Edge by The Tuss, as well as Waitin' to Inhale by Devin the Dude.

I loved 2007. Maybe the best year of music in my life.

I voted for the Budos Band because I still listen to that record. The groove is so wonderful, they are wonderful. I liked the MIA album that year from this list, like a lot a LOT, Maths + English was good but I preferred Showtime, and I'm a Sound of Silver defender, but the Budos Band are transcendent to me

The thing is, Tomboy, the album after Person Pitch, is way more Brian Wilsony (and also tons better)

This Bliss, West Coast, and Untrue were all standout favourites, but nothing here gets close to And Their Refinement of the Decline. Contender for album of the 00s for me.

I voted Blackout. My thoughts on it have been slightly complicated by all that's come out about Britney in the last couple of years but I can't shake my view that its first half in particular is some of the best pop music ever made.

For me it's The Tough Alliance. Incredible songs, and the videos for First Class Riot, New Chance, and Neo Violence are so great. The-Dream a close second.

one album I think is missing here is Dan Deacon's Spiderman of the Rings. I swear that album was a pretty big deal at the time. I don't think it's held up all that well and I know some people really hated it but it did seem like the sort of thing nobody had heard before

The Field, Stars of the Lid, and even Kanye would be a very close 2nd.

Untrue felt like a game changing, genre/scene defining release, more so than anything else on this list, and was hugely influential to me personally too.

I've never listened to Stars of the Lid, and I'm rectifying that as I type (tbh I always assumed they were an indie rock band). I want to hear that Guthrie/Budd album too.

I'm between Kala and Untrue...I've gone back to Kala more than anything else on this list aside from Radiohead, but only because Untrue has that special feeling that I don't want to wear out by listening to it too often.

Heh, was literally about to say that I'd never listened to Stars of the Lid before as I'd wrongly assumed they were an indie rock band.

Untrue for me, just ahead of This Bliss and Aman Iman.

I completely overlooked The Sound of Silver in the list. My favorite LCD full length. Doesn't change my voe, but yeah this is peak 00's. Co-sign best "mid-decade" year because nothing will beat 2000 or 2001.

It feels a bit funny to vote for MIA twice in these polls, but Kala is my favorite album listed here so... Write-in candidates would include Electrelane and Ulver.

SoS was one of the records that really encouraged me to try my hand at making dance music. Oh, it's allowed to have live drums that sound kinda shitty? Don't know how to program a synth? Just play some cowbells, it's fine.

yep, didn't even have to think about it. few other albums have had as big of an impact on my taste and in some ways the trajectory of my life. it was the major gateway to balearic music and cosmic disco for me, which has a lot to do with how i interact with music and why i stuck with DJing

Oh God, yes, this year was Electrelane's No Shouts No Calls for me. I adored it. Yeah, I remember this year now. Incidentally our last in Tufnell Park (how do you do that sad face thing)

Having a great time listening to Maths + English (which wasn't streaming for awhile, but now it is apparently). I love the feature trade with UGK (their feature here is much better than his feature on Underground Kingz though). This is the most fun Dizzee album by far. Such a great variety of tracks.

This was a year I was really into indie, I guess: Panda Bear, Electrelane, Deerhunter, Caribou, James Blackshaw. I really like the The National album ("Boxer") from that year, too. Probably listened to the SOTL the most tho

2007 was a pretty long time ago though, they hadn't started pressing things on vinyl yet, they just released it as MP3s that you could put on your iPod
