CDNow's extensive sound sample library is gone. Amazon has *maybe* half the sound samples that CDNow had, usually limited to the first few tracks of an album, and only major albums at that.

amazon didn't buy CDNow. BMG gave up and asked Amazon to run the back end. had BMG wanted to pay for the use of the samples (supplied by a third party), they'd still be there.

there's any number of good reasons to rag on amazon; this ain't one of 'em.
