McGuirk can not be the worst writer ever, simply because he uses the phrase "Greil Marcus, who surprisingly says a lot of cool stuff". Then again, he shits on Bowie so FUK HIM. Way to namedrop Under Construction in a vain attempt to not be the World's Biggest Rockist.
Will York: "I do not understand or like these new hip trends! They scare me!" Me: "Then write about something else you knob."
Jeff "DJ Zen" Chang is cool though. I loved his liner notes for Soulside's Greatest Bumps. And the contrast between his picks and his kids' picks are good for a larf.
People are still bashing the Strokes a year later, so I guess they (a) actually are important and (b) can't exactly be over-rated.

i particularly like the Crack:war cd. i actually heard it before i'd ever seen them live (strange since i'm friends with eric and jason from the band). but, after finally seeing them live, they are pretty intense and i could imagine a show outshining the cd

i'm on the fence still after hearing just their half of a split 12"...
while liking them, i can see where your coming from... plus, the list of punk/noise kids doing beats and raps is starting to get big enough to kind of remove the novelty (da hawnay troof, gravy train, etc). i need to see more before i can really form an opinion.m.
