Yesterday I had no idea this music existed, just coming to it off of the Beak> thread. I'm intrigued. Listening to the ten-minute closer of Nebula Rasa now. This guy sounds beautifully self-assured -- like Richard Dawson circa Nothing Important or The Ruby Cord, or like Michael Gira circa The Seer, or like Big Blood all the time. This track alone (Your Morals are Worthless in the Eye of a Tree) has SNES synths, death metal vocals (alongside clean ones, if it's melody you're after, which I usually am), a post-rock build, a goofy-sounding spoken word sermon of sorts, techno-via-SNES-synths outro... yes indeed! And he puts out an album or three a year? And sometimes these albums consist of four 25-minute songs? Seriously sounds like my kind of artist.

he's awesome. there's a sort of grimy outsider feel to it all which adds to the experience. in terms of demeanour he's a bit like a cross between the angel from skellig and a paul kingsnorth character. i do enjoy talking to him when he emerges from the various fugue states in which he composes his work. Kicking, Serpent, Nebula, Saint and Won't are all frankly fuckin amazing imo and there's more coming soon

Yeah, me and imago are long-time fans. His back catalogue is SO big, though, it's a bit of a monster to wade through. Along with the ones imago mentioned I'd add Black Meta and I Aim To Understand Nothing.

Awesome. Seven albums to start with! I fell asleep to the third song on Won't last night, about twenty minutes in -- I was tired going in, but then riveted. The drum sound goddammit! Ratty in exactly the way I love! But clear and precise enough to catch the details that matter. And he's a wonderful vocalist. Didn't catchy any lyrics to make me stop and go "whoa" (yet) but the lyrics I did catch don't suck -- they seem urgent and thoughtful -- and there's a lot of them, which I like.

The track I sampled off the latest solo/altered Fender Rhodes album (Apocrypha?) was awesome too, so make that eight to start with.

four months pass...

New Won't is lovely and well worth an hour's immersion. More...indiepop this time?

Oh good, sounds like this might jive well with the Sabbath mood I'm in. Thanks for the heads-up, imago.
