Like Sad vinyl fetishist query: Scenes in movies featuring/revolving around vinyl records?, but with CDs.
Of course I'll start with something from TV: The Anita Baker on infinite repeat in Deborah Vance's LA mansion gag on Hacks was a gift that kept on giving.
Possibly related: Dwight Twilley Band's "Looking For The Magic" on infinite repeat in the first victim's cabin in You're Next.
It must be hard for a young person encountering To Die For, er, for the first time and trying to understand why Casey Affleck agrees to kill the husband for a boombox & some CDs.

Hahah I have a perfect one from the initial height of the CD era, 1987: in Less Than Zero, Robert Downey Jr. breaks into his dad's mansion, specifically his impossibly posh weight room, to steal CDs for supporting his habit, presumably. It is worth noting that he specifically picks out Robert Palmer's Riptide, which is presumably what his dad uses as a soundtrack to get ripped.

Related to Ned's entry: I finally saw Rules of Attraction on Friday, and there's this great bit about "Situation" by Yaz soundtracking a frantic carride to the ER after a kid OD's, and Ian Somerhalder asking the driver, "Do you have a different CD?".
CD's are also purchased during the famous NSFW Euro Trip segment:

i don't wanna say what movie it is because of the pile of vomit that directed it, but there's a part where one of the characters wants to buy some opera recordings, but asks to go to "a cd store" instead of "record store", "music shop" or any other normal thing that i've heard it called before.

I remember being annoyed at the beginning of "Another 48 Hours" when Eddie Murphy is being released from prison and he gets his possessions returned to him, including his "In the Jungle Groove" CD - a 1986 release that he somehow took into the jail in 1982, when compact discs weren't even commonplace

-Lorelai is going somewhere with Luke in his pickup and correctly assertains that he's going through stuff because he has this dodgy v/a Reggae comp CD he got at a gas station sitting on the console.

Yeah, Jason Schwartzman's character leaves a girl naked and handcuffed to a bed with her mouth and eyes duct-taped, promising to be right back. He puts on her "favorite song" to entertain her while he's gone, but when he slams the door on the way out, the CD starts skipping.

I scrolled down in the hope that I would be first to mention the "Bob Morton made a mistake" scene in Robocop. But no, foiled. Again. I used to think that Boddicker was holding a Video CD - a format popular in the Far East - but that didn't come out until the early 1990s. JPEG as a concept was just barely in its infancy in 1987. I still think of 1987 as "the modern age", and it's odd to think that MPEG compression postdates it.
Apparently that scene came about because Paul Verhoeven's English was sketchy:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31rrZeTH9HI

I had a roommate circa the 2010s who regarded CD's as a shitty, cheap format, which struck me as kind of weird given my first memories of holding a CD and comparing it to the beat up, old record my family had of Goin' Quackers (which I think they STILL have but may not be playable). It just seemed so futuristic to me - like it's made of METAL and it's got all these cool rainbow colors flowing through it from even the slightest bit of light. The fact that it needed lasers instead of this physical poppy, scratchy needle seemed pretty awesome. It also seemed super expensive, which is why the grown-ups got the CD player and the kids had to play with this cheap, plastic turntable thingie with a horrible speaker (which to be fair we treated like any other toy, i.e. not carefully). I guess it's the opposite now where a kid would get an old Discman while the adults keep the limited 180 gram vinyl pressing locked up.
