I think she deserves her own thread? New album Sentir que no sabes out next week. I quite liked Será que ahora podremos entendernos, loved Se ve desde aquí and last year's side project Vidrio (as Titanic)—she seems to have great momentum right now, very excited to listen to the new one.

For what it's worth, I loved her performance a couple of years ago here in Luxembourg.

The whole album is excellent though I think "Enfrente" is the clear standout

Great album. Nice review in Pitchfork, nice feature on her in NY Times (although headline suggests she's more avante-garde than she is ) . Mentioned her in Rolling Afro-Latin etc 2024 thread

New album certainly has an eye towards the mainstream in places, but she definitely has avant-garde bona fides from past work.
Nominated her in our EOY poll before, but no one gave af. Glad she's finally got some traction.

Just on my way home from seeing her, that was fucking great tbh. Didnt really know much of her stuff going in, had only spent a small amount of time with the new one and had just skimmed through the rest. So i was expecting it to be sort of avant AOR, like ML Buch or Jane Siberry or something. And some of it was... kind of? But firstly, that cello takes up a heck of a lot of space in a live context, some of her playing in the louder passages was more akin to a doom metal bass player than anything else, other times it was lending this heavy drone element to the music. And secondly the two guys she was playing with were very much of a hairy sort of rock background - a guitar player in a tie-dye pink floyd shirt, and the drummer was very much of the whack-the-shit-out-of-them school of playing. That all said, there were many beautiful moments where she was playing higher up the neck or more sparsely and it took on this otherwordly, somewhat mystical vibe, Catherine Ribeiro popped into my head at one point. So it was mostly folky psych-rock I guess. The new songs did stick out a bit, but not in an awkward way. Anyhow, best thing i've seen since Clarissa Connelly (would encourage people to check out her stuff too, they share the same earthed and earthy quality while at the same time reaching for something beyond, both a heaviness and a lightness). thanks thread for inciting me to go!

Thank you for the Clarissa Connelly heads up. World of Work, the new one, is very nice, but I'm quite taken with the previous ones The Voyager and Tech Duinn.

Nice set with some songs going in an art-pop direction with her vocals melding Kate Bush (who she has said she's a fan of, and she has a song called "Kate" that she opened with) and Julieta Venegas w/ dashes of Ligeti, Steve Reich, Arthur Russell and Velvet Underground on the cello plus effects pedals; and other songs with her and her partner guitarist Hector Tosta and their drummer starting off artsy but then going in a sludge rock, almost stoner metal direction w/ some jazz improv aspects and lots of effects pedal sounds.

The setlist got corrected - see note -- Speaking with the artist, they verified that "Tinho" is shorthand they use on their written setlists for the track 'Desde el cielo', "Kate is shorthand for 'No Se Ve Desde Aca', and "Peggy" for 'Quieras o No'
