Why can't I find it on CD? Is there something I should know?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 5 December 2002 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

I want it also.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 5 December 2002 22:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I've seen it on double vinyl, taunting me from a shop window.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 5 December 2002 22:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I've seen about 40 records I want this year, all taunting me, I really should just buy a record deck.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 5 December 2002 22:07 (twenty-two years ago)

As far as I know, it's only out in Germany. It's available from amazon.de.

Siegbran (eofor), Thursday, 5 December 2002 22:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I recently received an Amazon.de order exactly a week after placing it. Not bad at all.

Andy K (Andy K), Thursday, 5 December 2002 23:26 (twenty-two years ago)

It's honestly worth picking up on LP, if you have a table handy, just to bring its magnificence into your life that much sooner. My goal for this weekend is to finally dub it to my hard drive so I can burn off a disc: the half I taped off before work one morning made near-perfect car listening.

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 5 December 2002 23:30 (twenty-two years ago)

nabisco have we been gushing about difft albums?? i thort we were both all hot n bothered about Run.Stop.Restore (though I'm keen to hear this one as well)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 5 December 2002 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Evidently we have, Tracer! Given our matching enthusiasm I think we both need to go hear the other one. Didn't you wonder, on the other thread, why people were talking about "Day of Mine" and "Jean?" (I couldn't have been the only one talking about this, or I'd have noticed!)

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 6 December 2002 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

four months pass...
Weyhey! Thread revival!
Just picked this up in Berlin during the week-end and man this shit is on.. I thought this would be a one-hit electroclash sleeper, but this is really sth else! This actually sounds like pretty genuine electro-pop..

Fabrice (Fabfunk), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 06:21 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't claim any riches

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 09:31 (twenty-two years ago)

i've had MP3s of this thing since last fall ... and i still listen to it. this is rare for me and new records. i don't think it's ever gonna rise in status above "good electro pop record" but their next one might. i enjoy it a lot.

mosurock (mosurock), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 12:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I couldn't even get into Nag Nag Nag to see them last week, so obviously going to do well in the UK....

Jacob (Jacob), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 12:46 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah? they're touring this? do they have Soffy O in tow? I actually saw her presenting some music program. kinda ruined the myth.
who is she anyway? just a local scenester?

Fabrice (Fabfunk), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

mark hollis is rolling over in his grave ... oh wait, he's still alive.

honestly, i listened to "day of mine" just now and thought this is the most re-mixable song i've heard in ages. any remixes of this worth checking out?

fields of salmon (fieldsofsalmon), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 13:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Soffy O is Swedish. There are Autotune, Mitja Prinz and 3Phases remixes, all of them OK especially the more techno/dancefloor oriented 3Phases one. But although it's a bitch to mix in and out of, the original is still the best.

Siegbran (eofor), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 15:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Siegbran, did you get my e-mail the other day? If not, drop me a line...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 15:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Mmmmm, Tok Tok vs Soffy O LP ...

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 16 April 2003 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I love Soffy O more than ever. I wish I could see her television programme.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Thursday, 17 April 2003 19:53 (twenty-two years ago)

CD arrived in the mail over the weekend. Only dud is that it's copy protected so I can't make copies for my friends. Anyway, this record makes me happy and want to dance around in my cubicle!

Aaron W (Aaron W), Monday, 21 April 2003 13:59 (twenty-two years ago)

That's what I would call a precious thing!

nabisco (nabisco), Monday, 21 April 2003 16:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Personally, I haven't quite managed to find the Soviet album yet. "Candy Girl" is my favourite Electroclash track this far - sounding exactly like typical early 80s pop.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 08:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I love this LP. Managed to find a previous Tok Tok LP on Slsk too - there are a couple of tracks on there that have ended up on the last LP with Soffy vox

j0e (j0e), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

wasn't this cd copy-protected or something?

Chip Morningstar (bob), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

there were FOUR used copies of this (the tok tok vs soffy o cd) in the nu electro bin at the notting hill MVE at the weekend. this made me very suspicious. but i still want it, i think.

zebedee (zebedee), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 09:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Huge numbers of review copies were sent out. I got mine from a friend who'd been sent about 4 copies, so this may be why...

Jacob (Jacob), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I got sent quite a few too. I know I gave one to Gareth, kept one and sold one.

Fields of Salmon: The Starecase remix is great. They stay true to teh spirit of the original, but make it more lush. Avoid the Autotune mix at all costs. They've just turned it into limp vocal house.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 12:06 (twenty-two years ago)

There's a Starecase mix? Yay!!!

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I was pleased when I saw that on the sleeve (this is the UK singe release, not sure about other territories). I love Starecase. I keep waiting for them to be propelled out of their little niche, but they never are.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

To answer my own question: on the UK vinyl release. And I just saw this is out too in Germany, two new remixes by DJ Rush (that should be interesting!) and hiphop producer team Turntablerocker.

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha, too slow...

Siegbran (eofor), Tuesday, 22 April 2003 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

two years pass...
i was just thinking about tok tok vs soffy o... i want more!

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 16 March 2006 06:46 (nineteen years ago)

I miss Soffy O...

Le Baaderonixx de Benedict Canyon (baaderonixx), Thursday, 16 March 2006 08:55 (nineteen years ago)

anyone heard anything? news? rumors? whispers in the dark?

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 16 March 2006 18:09 (nineteen years ago)

apologies in advance to anyone who sees this thread at the top of the page and gets excited

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 16 March 2006 18:10 (nineteen years ago)

"In advance" = the morning after it ALREADY HAPPENED TO ME? Screw you, S1ocki. Good day.

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 16 March 2006 18:15 (nineteen years ago)

Man, these were the days.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 16 March 2006 18:19 (nineteen years ago)

LeRooLeRoo (Seb), Thursday, 16 March 2006 23:43 (nineteen years ago)

i think it was an article you wrote for pfork that turned me on to them in the first place!

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 17 March 2006 00:42 (nineteen years ago)

I <3 this.

*:--☆--:*:--☆:*:--☆--:*:--☆--: (ENBB), Monday, 28 September 2009 04:24 (sixteen years ago)

yeah this is still great. Too bad they never came up with a follow-up

spiny doughboy (baaderonixx), Monday, 28 September 2009 06:20 (sixteen years ago)

Some of her solo songs on Myspace are pretty okay, but not even close to this.

Johnny Fever, Monday, 28 September 2009 06:30 (sixteen years ago)

Still haven't heard it :-(

PJ Miller, Monday, 28 September 2009 11:36 (sixteen years ago)

someone remind me what the track that 'Jean' samples is?

modescalator (blueski), Monday, 28 September 2009 11:41 (sixteen years ago)
