When Irish folkies go sophistipop

Im looking for recommendations although Im well aware this is quite a niche genre

Heres a few to kick off

I believe one of the members of this group was a member of Steeleye Span. This is proper autumnal synth pop - produced by Phil Lynott

I remember this one being on the radio a lot during the mid-80s. I thought it was Bagatelle for ages. Cork folkies go sophistipop

This is a reasonably well known song in Ireland from some Planxty contemporaries. A bitta reggae, a bitta world music in this one

Im sure most people are familiar with this one (and probably hate it)? I love it tbh

Maybe more "Irish folkies go heartland rock" than "Irish folkies go sophistipop" tbf

These guys are a recent discovery and a bit of a revelation. Their first album mixes a bit of the songwriting chops of peak Fleetwood Mac with some Irish instrumentation

Great thread. Idk why but some of the Altan tracks that aren't given straight folk arrangements came to mind first (though they really aren't the band's best work)

I feel like a Scottish equivalent thread would be easier (for me) to contribute to

I'm sure Paul Brady and Mary Coughlan fit in here, but struggling to think of a specific track.

xpost I cant think of Clannad without Colm Meaney saying "Do you like those artistes?" immediately springing to mind

Talking of Phil Lynott, here's ultra-folkies De Dannan playing "Parisienne Walkways" with plenty of fretless bass
