So I can understand why Bowie would be credited on the Portuguese version of “Starman” whichh is “O Astronauta de Mármore,” by Nenhum de Nós, but why is Johnny Thunders in there?Writer(s): Thedy Rodrigues Correa Filho, David Bowie, John Genzale, Sady Homrich

Even weirder than the "Foggy Notion" credit toSterling MorrisonMaureen TuckerDouglas YuleHy WeissBut even this one I can understand as some kind of legal thing and find discussion of.https://velvetforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=144992

First I thought it was some kind of sampling thing, but now I think it was just a database glitch. Not every source has him credited.

The correct songwriting credits include a "C. Stein" but that is Carlos Stein, not the guy from Blondie

So basically the glitch replaced C. Stein with Johnny Thunders. One could imagine how a slip like that might happen.

Thanks. Trying to imagine. Maybe somebody or something confused Carlos Stein with Chris Stein and then they decided to double down and changed it even further to John Genzale.

One thing even had his full name, John Anthony Genzale Jr.

I think we've talked about the "Foggy Notion" credit before. Lou lifted some lines from some obscure 50s (doo wop probably) song, which I assume Hy Weiss owned the publishing for (I very much doubt he wrote it).

according to genius it's this tune, from which the "she made me do something that i never did before / i rushed right down to the flower store" stanza is lifted from:

and old town was hy weiss's record label so

Not crazy about the Nenhum de Nos version, but this thread has reminded me of the existence of Seu Jorge's excellent Portuguese renditions of Bowie songs featured in the soundtrack to The Life Aquatic. Very subdued arrangements, just voice and acoustic guitar. Could almost come across as coffee shop bullshit which would normally piss me off (eg those wretched Hey Ya covers), but I feel like it works on the Seu Jorge album. Rebel Rebel in particular.

I liked those songs in the movie but then not standalone for whatever reason. I did like another Seu Jorge song recently though

Nothing strange leaps out about the writing credits, to me at least.

Problem with my typing though. "Burguesinha"

"Anthem" - Leonard Cohen (as in "there is a crack in everything")
by Leonard Cohen, Rebecca de Mornay

Interesting details on Wikipedia
By the time she was 16, De Mornay had an agent who was selling her songs to German rock & roll musicians, and she had written the theme song for a kung fu movie called Goodbye Bruce Lee: His Last Game of Death (1975). In 1980, De Mornay returned to the United States and enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Institute to study acting.
