crypto's favourite albums of 1991

I've been starting a lot of polls lately, so here's one more. Let me know if it's getting annoying and I'll knock it off.

Related my Clash on Broadway poll, actually, I've been going through the process of digitizing my CD (and in some cases, cassette) music library. I start with 1991 as this appears to be the first year that I purchased a lot of new music from on CD (I don't think I got my first CD player until 1992, so all of these were after-the-fact purchases---waaaay after the fact, in some cases). Dangerous might've been a Christmas '91 present; I remember only being able to play the album on my parents' stereo for a while. Into the Great Wide Open might've been the only other one I actually acquired in 1991; it's the only one of these I explicitly remember owning on cassette. Cereal Killers is the only thing here I've since purchased on vinyl; I'm not a big fan of CD-era albums on vinyl, but it got reissued in a cool limited edition thing about a decade ago and I couldn't resist.

The list is unranked. Also, I didn't include compilations, so Clash on Broadway and James Brown's 20 All-Time Greatest Hits! are sitting this one out.

I not only have a feeling what'll win, I'm pretty certain I can predict the top 3. We'll see.

P.M. Dawn gets my vote today.

Plenty of great albums but it's hard for me to ever not vote for Blue Lines.

I like or adore most of these albums. Might throw Dangerous a vote because it sounds more feral than ever.

These two posts make me extremely happy.

There are at least three albums here, possibly five, in serious contention for being named the greatest album of the year and maybe all time.

Bandwagonesque over Loveless - the two I enjoy most in total. I like several tracks from each of the others I've heard though I have to admit I never was bowled over by Rheostatics. I met Tielli helping an acquaintance do an interview and he was a little off-putting.

I also saw Bidini do a talk at a library and he seemed OK.

Pushed it over the top.

ILM problem right now, good number of voters (the people are there) but the discussion, even just to say what you're voting for, is not.

Damn, I was going to vote for Tribe, that would have made a great tie. I just couldn't resolve a ridiculous dilemma I had. I keep telling myself Loveless is a all-time favorite, and it seemed like an obvious choice. However, I must have played Low End Theory 10 times since the last time I played Loveless. Yet still I wanna say I like MBV more.
