And for the first time in the 10 years I've been running this poll, I have an album in the list. Shame on you all for overlooking Arushi Jain's gorgeous 2nd album. My #1.

easy vote for my #2, cavalier's wonderful different type time, which is a dense and lived-in rap record that sounds like a billy woods or quelle chris-ified version of something like common's resurrection

in the autechre threads, pretty much everybody who listened to the live sets seemed to like them, I didn't really expect it to place highly but I'm surprised that I'm the only one who voted for it.

Anyway, listening to Arushi Jain now. I liked her first album but somehow missed that she released another one.

i thought the Tyner/Henderson record was cool but personally i never vote for archival releases

xp I voted for the Lyon set. Probably should have voted for the whole thing.

i would like to check all of these out. i feel like i learn so much music from being on this board, it surprises me that records i voted for ever end up on this poll

GARFO is excellent portuguese acoustic free jazz, Gray/Smith is kind of like minimalist deconstructed american folk music via label blank forms

ya buncha savages can't appreciate the genius of Busted Head Racket

That's usually how I feel but this was too powerful

Lake Mary & pinyonpine was mine. Gorgeous. It soothes and shimmers, like aspens in a summer breeze.

I would prefer not to. (Chinaski), Friday, 7 February 2025 22:01 (four months ago)

I have two of these, both by 22 y/o Discord pals of mine, but both very different - one is a supremely well-composed bonkers prog-pop concept album and the other is a 7-hour summative work of longform industrial/electronic sound collage by someone who's released several hundred albums and essentially now decided to pack in music and become a writer. They're also both among the smartest and nicest people I've ever encountered online. I make no apology for boosting my pals - I genuinely love these albums as much as their placement suggests - and I'm going to be doing a lot more of this in the very near future. Anyway, I abstain from the actual voting bit, but if anyone wants to give either of these albums a listen, here they are

My goodness that lux album is actually quite good from the bits I heard (mostly just the first 4-5 tracks). Quite accessible for what it is, really. Sometimes being prolific can work against you, it makes it hard for people to find a starting point or take in your work in a digestible manner. Another artist where I feel this works against her is DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ

I think if Autechre had put out one set, or an hour length album, but…
