"Mouldy Old Dough" easily gets my vote but I feel obliged to show some love for "Simon Smith & The Amazing Dancing Bear"

Fun fact: Harry Seacombe had an exclusive contract for singing with Phillips records (hymns, etc) so was not allowed to sing on Goons records.

It was ok, however, to speak his lines as per the Ying tong song. So, potentially, he was the original rapper.

Discovered that the cover artist was none other than Adrian Shaughnessy who went on to found Intro - who designed a bunch of album covers:

I like "The Martian Hop"--think I have it on a Dr. Demento compilation.

Mouldy Old Dough v. Monster Mash. The Laughing Gnome is also a banger.

I am Kaiser Bill's vengeance. I am Kaiser Bill's night. I am Kaiser Bill's Batman!

The Kaiser Bill's Batman vote is mine!

(John) O'Neill had a UK top five hit single with "I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman" credited as 'Whistling Jack Smith' (a play on "Whispering" Jack Smith). He recorded this as the solo whistler for a set fee and was never acknowledged as its performer, nor paid any royalties. When the track was aired on Top of the Pops, O'Neill and his family were shocked to see an actor appear on stage to mime to the recorded backing track.

"Barbados" was later successfully covered by the Vengaboys in 1999 as "We're Going to Ibiza".

Had forgotten this. Typically Tropical (aka a couple of studio bods) later wrote "I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper" too, clearly men of many talents.
