Might be sentimental more than what I would vote hearing it for the first time now, but going with "Jump in the River."

Best Track on "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got"

Great album, probably I Am Stretched on Your Grave.

moral ziosk (geoffreyess), Thursday, 13 March 2025 04:03 (three months ago)

Great #1, but "Emperor's New Clothes."

clemenza, Thursday, 13 March 2025 04:04 (three months ago)

it's 'the last day of our acquaintance' narrowly over 'i am stretched' imo

mookieproof, Thursday, 13 March 2025 04:14 (three months ago)

I, um, 'upgraded' my childhood cassette with a charity store CD quite recently so it's fresher in my mind than it might have been. "Black Boys" methinks!

Nag! Nag! Nag!, Thursday, 13 March 2025 04:36 (three months ago)

Tough. The single feels too easy so I went with a deep cut that really blew me away when I caught the SNL episode hosted by Kyle MacLachlan and she played it as the second number - by the end I was like holy shit that’s a great song.

"Nothing Compares 2 U" is incredible, certainly one of the most timeless singles ever. There are so many other great songs though. On most days, I believe that "The Last Day of Our Acquaintance" is the peak of the album.

Voted “Feel So Different”, because it’s a perfect lyric

The last three songs are incredible -- masterpieces of dynamics. But I'm stuck between "Jump in the River" (that guitar!) and "The Emperor's New Clothes."

"Three Babies". The lovelorn things here never touched me much, though at the time they should have.

Halfway there but for you, Thursday, 13 March 2025 14:35 (three months ago)

a commendably lugubrious album for a pop smash, honorary goth: there are exactly zero happy songs here. voting emperor as the tumble of storylike but haphazard lyrics over a tasty aor jangle still hits. ballads like acquaintance and black boys are great but feel a bit like revisits of the best song on the first lp (just like u said it would b)

they don’t do songs like nothing compares anymore do they? not my bag but it’s striking even without the in your face video.

"Three Babies," probably, though "The Emperor's New Clothes" and "Last Day of Our Acquaintance" are also perfect

fpd everyone for showy contrarianism

The Emperor’s New Clothes. Though ofc the video for Nothing Compares gets all the glory, the Emperor video is top notch. I prefer the active dancing fierce Sinead to sad face.

Voted "Three Babies" because this is one of my wife's favorite albums and that is her favorite song on it.

"Jump In The River", though I prefer the version that was on the Married To The Mob soundtrack.

I love those chunky electric guitar chords she plays.

Surprising that we've never had a Universal Mother poll.

piscesx, Monday, 17 March 2025 13:24 (three months ago)

listened again to see if i could justify voting for anything but “nothing compares 2 u,” and i cannot
