Pop 2 finished at #29 in ILMs 2017 albums poll, it also finished at #50 in ILMs 2010s albums poll.

This Pop series was only going to run for five weeks but going to extend to six for this add. I really wanted to get this in because the name of this works for this series and add a mix tape as well, though I really don't know why this is not a proper album anyways.

it's one of the last 3. I might vote "Porsche" bc no one else will, probably, but my head says "Track 10" or "Unlock It" (I even managed to get Stockholm Syndrome with the Jay Park verse on the latter)

it wasn't released as a proper album due to label drama - her intended third album kept getting delayed because the label wasn't happy with it, so she recorded number 1 angel quickly without their permission and convinced them to let her release it as a 'mixtape' with zero promotion, without it counting as a proper album. then the album was delayed yet again and a lot of it leaked online (which lead to most of the album sadly being scrapped), so ag cook proposed that they make another 'mixtape' quickly which was pop 2

Probably need to relisten to this album, but it really does take off toward the end.

One of my all time favourite albums, it’s a hard choice but probably “I Got It” for the times I have cranked it in the car with my daughters.
So many incredible moments though - the backing screams in the chorus of “Tears”, the brokenhearted robot autotune of “Track 10”, the shimmer of “Backseat”, the spiralling “Out of My Head”. Close to a perfect album, if I could delete Mykki Blanco from “Femmebot”.

Oh god I forgot “Lucky”. How is it all so good?

When Charli XCX played Roskilde last summer, both Track 10 and Boys sounded incredible. As much as I like Brat, 2017 was when she made her masterpieces.

The "I'm alone I'm alone I'm alone" refrain is so powerful. I get lost in it sometimes.
The bass is sick, especially during the final repetition of said refrain.
"I can't escape all the voices and so I TUWN IT UP" is instantly in the Turn It Up hall of fame

really the only thing that can be done here but "out of my head" is one of my fav charli songs.... i mean it's really a tove lo song but that's one of charli's best pure pop records imo

Haven't heard this album for a few years. Quite excited about hearing it again.

Speaking of Porche and Mø, just want to point out that her new single is called Keep Møving, which is probably more fun if you know how an 'ø' sounds in Danish, but still.

Leaning toward Out of My Head, Porsche a close second

"Unlock it" one of her highest highs, deliriously luxuriously pleasurable, those fore and background vocals you can't help sing along to, addictively catchy.

Latecomer to XCX world tbh, but I stan for her so hard now.

Particularly as I'd loved and replayed a couple of her previous tracks from mixes/heard out that stuck in my head a good while before the whole BRAT summer... without making the connection it was her singing them!! Totally off-radar....

I know this thread is about Pop2 but an aside... another genius trick I've not seen commented, maybe it's just obviously so, but how the sound affect in Club Classics, how it consciously sounds how it sounds like when YOU ARE AT a rave, not just the isolated music track... like you're wandering inside and outside of the venue and the sound mix is going all wrong, dopplering, bass booms and smearing then it all comes back together.

I can't remember anyone else doing that since Björk on "There's More to Life Than This" (Recorded Live at the Milk Bar Toilets). Though I'm sure there are loads on cases.

It wouldn't be a bad idea for her to do another "mixtape" next to cool people off/create some room to experiment again.

Most of this is really really good anyway, and Track 10 what can I add... I think I'd put this only under HIFN/CRASH as a whole due to it's grab-bag nature, but it's a fucking great sweetie bag, there's just one or two I'm really not into.
