Looking over the nominees from this period, some of the choices the voters made jump out at me, not that they were wrong. The Sound of Music and the largely forgotten Fiorello! won over Gypsy, which is evidently still a point of contention with many musical fans today. Hello, Dolly! won over Funny Girl. Hair was cheated out of a spot on the 1968 ballot where it probably would have won over Hallelujah, Baby! a show that had already closed by the time the awards were given out.

I’ve seen half of these, Cabaret is easily my favorite. I’m not a big musical guy but I would happily watch it again

Fiddler is fine, the main dude is good. Lord it feels long though.

Bye Bye Birdie is shrill and irritating, as much as I love Ann-Margaret.

By Fiddler dude you probably mean Topol, and not Zero Mostel from the Broadway cast. I have heard people complain about this recasting as it were.

Ah, no. I know nothing about Broadway casts and whatnot.

The poll is kind of unfair in that way, but the films based on these shows always have different song lists, so comparison gets confusing.
