In 2019 I was aimlessly scrolling YouTube and got suggested a song by an artist called Kishi Bashi (cannot remember which one, but looking through thumbnails it might have been I Am The Antichrist To You). Absolutely loved it, googled him to find he was playing a show in the next city over tomorrow. Even though I really hated doing stuff spontaneously back then (and still do to a lesser extent) I booked a ticket and took a train over. Had a wonderful time (that was my first concert, and also my only one for a while since Covid hit soon after).

All this to say I try to listen to most unfamiliar songs YouTube spits in my direction after that. Recently it's started giving me ones in the low triple or double digits of views, and occasionally one with no views at all. Haven't heard anything really memorable from those yet, but I'll keep clicking.

I haven't had luck with great music yet, but great cover art, absolutely.

The strange YouTube thing that regularly happens to me: after spending about an hour or so going down rabbitholes of more an dmore obscure television appearances and interviews of B-T and SB, my adverts switched to Japanese. (They seemed to mostly be advertising deliveries of fresh Asian food to homesick students.) It's always interesting watching my adverts change when I travel. But having them switch language without leaving the country was a new one to me.
