This thread is sheer discrimination against those crazies who consider "Never Let Me Down" the second-best song on the record.

OK, then - to switch things up: if you did not vote for Never Let Me Down Again as best track, then please DO NOT VOTE for the SAME SONG again. You have to pick a second best (or third best if NLMDA is your second) track.

Way into "Behind The Wheel." All those lines with Beckett brevity about submission: "I'm going cheap" and so on.

I voted for Behind the Wheel last time, so this time I have voted for Nothing, I think NLMDA is the third best song on the album, so I would have voted for Nothing as second best even if NLMDA was available here as an option. Maybe it would be easier to just get everyone to rank all of the tracks on Music For The Masses from best to worst if we really want to get an accurate picture of ilms views on the relative quality of the tracks on this album.

I'm not going to do this though, because I don't remember how some of them go, and I don't feel like listening to the album again at the moment

I kind of want to vote for Behind The Wheel. But it seems like everyone is voting for that song, so it's going to be another landslide!

Then I will start a 'Who is your favourite member of Depeche Mode from the era of this album' poll like it's Smash Hits.

For the sound design: To Have and To Hold. For the smoothly interlocking parts: Behind the Wheel. For the terrifying atmosphere: Pimpf. But I'm going with my heart and voting for The Things You Said, can't beat a Martin Gore ballad.

The last time I listened to this album will have been in 1990 or 91 and, aside from NLMDA, the only track I can remember today is Pimpf.

lol I was just watching that again, and never realized that "Music for the Masses" is a pun!

My own poll and I still haven't voted in it. I'm very torn between Behind The Wheel and Nothing.

But that documentary made me start appreciating the sound design behind Little 15 and I Want You Now a lot more.

I found it very interesting. the details about the bellows of an accordion with no notes held. Always thought there was something sinister and inhuman in the mix of all the breathing. Glad to get that confirmed!
