Lots of great choices here, as well as quite a few I'd be happy to never hear again, but today I'm feeling "Across 110th Street," which is technically here on account of the 70's cop film of the same name, but is perhaps best used in Jackie Brown.

Sorry for the shit formatting, btw.

Bah, missing “The Blob” by The Five Blobs.

I never know all the songs on these polls… “dont’ you” slightly over “flashdance”

brimstead, Saturday, 31 May 2025 17:14 (six months ago)

Voted for the Bond theme as a proxy for John Barry’s overall contributions to film music, which includes a ton of personal favorites.

"Everybody's Talkin'" or "Beautiful Stranger."

clemenza, Saturday, 31 May 2025 17:23 (six months ago)

the real answer is Forbidden Colours tho

Hmmmmm (jamiesummerz), Saturday, 31 May 2025 17:49 (six months ago)

Making sure "Car Wash" gets a vote.
"Everybody's Talkin'" almost got it, but I can't decide if I love it so much because I love the movie so much. Could have also easily picked either of the 2 monster PRINCE songs.

nicky lo-fi, Saturday, 31 May 2025 20:07 (six months ago)

Some big omissions; Streets of Philadelphia, Mystery of Love, Chariots of Fire, Forbidden Colours etc

Went for Nilsson, perfect intro to the movie.

“car wash” is so great

"Moon River"

picture if you will a young steve shasta with a basic knowledge of campfire chords, yet fortified by years of punk anti-music, attempting to play this "simple" song.

it was my first introduction to secondary dominants & modal interchange... the harmonic rhythm changes via a cycle of 4ths, back-cycling to the tonic with the aid of it's self-referential chromatic modal root movement.

being a musical shithead (still am!), it made me appreciate Mancini so much more... to take something so complex and dynamic and make it sound so utterly sweet and enchanting is a real musical godhead gift to us all.

Yeah, there are tons of songs I could vote for here but in the end "Stayin' Alive."

I remember watching a particular movie on network tv in the late 70s — I was sitting on the floor having my mind set on fire and very conscious of my parents sitting on the couch behind me, terrified that my father would lose his shit about the debased disrespectful version of what he was hearing and turn the tv off. So it's Hendrix for me.

If “Kiss” is an option then that’s what i’m votin’.

Cow_Art, Sunday, 1 June 2025 03:46 (six months ago)

Really tough to pick between "Kiss" and "When Doves Cry," I feel like that'll split the vote.

Also, I guess "When Doves Cry" technically won an Oscar (as part of its Oscar-winning "song score"), but it's amazing how many great film songs weren't even nominated while the Oscar ended up going to some piece of schmaltz.

In what crazy world is Berlin - Take my Breath Away at #62?

How is Thom Yorke higher with Suspiria soundtrack?

my opinionation (Hamildan), Monday, 2 June 2025 14:00 (six months ago)

Didn't see 'Die Another Day', so voted for Céline Dion.

"singin in the rain". it's both a wonderful song and the perfect marriage of cinema, song and dance. "over the rainbow" a close second.
